If you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, you’re probably keeping your eyes peeled for releases at any given time. The series is a lot like Mario in that it can drop a 2D or a 3D iteration on you at any given time, but right now we’re decidedly in the mainline Breath of the Wild phase.
While we aren’t sure if Breath of the Wild‘s era is going to be a trilogy following Tears of the Kingdom, all eyes are on the next mainline game, following the impending remake of Ocarina of Time.
Thanks to a new official update from Nintendo, we know that the next Zelda release is closer than expected, even before Ocarina of Time drops later this year on Switch 2.
On September 17, Nintendo will officially release the Mineru’s Construct amiibo, which hails from the Tears of the Kingdom amiibo series (for reference, so far that line has hosted Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf in 2023, as well as Riju, Sidon, Yunobo, and Tulin in 2025).
Here’s the full breakdown of the amiibo, which explains it from a lore and gameplay perspective: “She is King Rauru’s elder sister and helped her brother fight the Demon King in her role as the Sage of Spirit long ago. She now helps Link in the present day through this Zonai construct. This figure has articulated arms that you can move around and pose how you like. It also lets you receive random items in the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom games. You may even receive a special fabric for Link’s paraglider in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”
In a rare move, the figure has articulated arms, which isn’t common for amiibo. Interestingly, it also works across multiple games:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
Keep that in mind if you only thought it worked in Tears of the Kingdom for a paraglider skin, but also keep in mind that the rewards for other games are typically slim; usually random ingredients you could find out in the open world.
Mineru is heavily featured in the game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, where she’s a fully playable character. In it, you get to see the full scope of her constructs, and take a peek into Zonai society in a way that Tears of the Kingdom didn’t have time to explore.
While a lot of folks are over amiibo wholesale, this releaseis pretty significant to the narrative of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Even if you aren’t a hardcore amiibo collector, this is one of the more interesting figures to come out in some time.
