Leaks and teasers about Samsung’s first tri-fold phone have been trickling in for a while now, but suddenly we’re learning a whole lot more about this device, with two major new leaks detailing many of the possible specs – along with its possible name and launch date.
First up, Evan Blass – a leaker with a superb track record – has posted about the phone on X, saying that it will be called the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, so that’s what we’ll refer to it as here. We’d previously heard that name put forward in another leak too, so this much seems likely.
In any case, Blass also claims that this phone will have a 5,437mAh battery, which would make it higher capacity than either the 4,400mAh Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 or the 5,000mAh Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. But then when unfolded this should be more like a tablet than a typical phone, so that higher capacity makes sense.

Indeed, Blass claims that the foldable screen will be 10 inches, while the cover screen will be 6.5 inches, with the former having a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and the latter of 2,600 nits.
Other details here include a claim that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will have a 200MP main camera, that it will use a Snapdragon chipset (likely meaning the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5), and that the three distinct sections will all be different thicknesses when unfolded, specifically 3.9mm, 4.0mm, and 4.2mm.
Coming soon at a high price
Elsewhere, a report in Chosun (via GSMArena) echoes the above name and screen sizes, but claims that the battery will actually be 5,600mAh. However, we’d guess that 5,600mAh might be the typical capacity, which is what Samsung would probably advertise it as being, while 5,437mAh might be the rated capacity, which would be the guaranteed minimum capacity a specific unit could have.
Chosun also claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will be 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 14mm thick when folded. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is 4.2mm thick and 8.9mm thick when unfolded and folded respectively.
Additionally, it will apparently cost $3,000 (roughly £2,280 / AU$4,565), and launch on December 5, so the wait for the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold might almost be over – though there’s disagreement on whether it will be widely available, so it remains to be seen whether you’ll be able to buy it or not.
