The Wait Is Over: Doctor Who Returns With Castling

Doctor Who is back in a major way thanks to Castling, a brand-new adventure that’s available for a limited time. While the show still hangs in a bit of limbo, Doctor Who has been going all in with the multimedia Circuit Breaker, as well as Doctor Who: Lost in Time from EastSideGames. Now, the two are finally converging.

If you’ve been following the new Circuit Breaker series already, then you’ve likely been following the latest chapters. For those who are unfamiliar, this is a multimedia event spanning games, comics, books, and audio dramas. The latest chapter has now been released, and it’s a limited-time event called Castling, which takes place in the Doctor Who: Lost in Time mobile game. You can see the announcement post on X below:

Doctor Who: Lost in Time is available to download on iOS and Android. It’s an idle game where you can join all your favorite Doctors and team up with friends to “uncover a conspiracy across time and space.” You’ll collect cards and characters from across the different eras of Doctor Who, and right now, you can also experience the latest chapter in Circuit Breaker.

In Castling, Jo Martin’s Fugitive Doctor will be facing off against Sontaran Shock Troopers. The adventure itself is written by Mario Mentasti and shows both the Fugitive Doctor and the Sontarans in the animated art style we’re used to in Doctor Who: Lost in Time. Participating in the event will net you a number of in-game rewards, including a card of the Fugitive Doctor.

Castling is the fifth chapter in the Circuit Breaker narrative and the first of two games to be a part of the storyline. A UNIT website and book will follow, and then it’ll be time for the second game, Momento Mori, on August 27, 2026. Circuit Breaker, which kicked off in June, will have a few more releases, including a Blu-Ray and another book, before coming to an end on March 9, 2027.

Circuit Breaker represents a pretty cool (and inventive) storytelling technique for Doctor Who, so it will be interesting to see where the multimedia series is headed next. If you’ve been following along with the Fugitive Doctor this far, be sure to check out Castling while it’s available.
