Timothy Olyphant’s New R-Rated Thriller Becomes Global Prime Video Streaming Sensation

Timothy Olyphant‘s new thriller movie is one of the hottest in the world.

Olyphant has been on quite a run of exciting projects in the last few years. The actor has joined three of the biggest sci-fi franchises of all time, playing the space sheriff Cobb Vanth on Disney+’s live-action Star Wars shows The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, giving life to a Terminator on Netflix’s animated Terminator Zero, and, more recently, becoming part of the world of Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise on Alien: Earth as Kirsh. That said, Olyphant’s best movies and shows come in many genres, like Westerns and thrillers, and the latter is where the star is finding success.

According to FlixPatrol, Over Your Dead Body has become Prime Video’s 2nd most watched movie in the world at the time of writing. Over Your Dead Body was released in theaters on April 24, 2026. After a brief theatrical run, the R-rated thriller finished with $2.4 million. Olyphant’s new movie ranks higher than multiple thrillers, a genre that is currently high on Prime Video’s global charts. Some of those include Sydney Sweeney’s R-rated psychological thriller The Housemaid, Gerard Butler’s disaster film Greenland 2: Migration, the star-studded Crime 101, and more. Leading Prime Video’s global charts is Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War.

Over Your Dead Body premiered on Prime Video internationally on June 10, with the new R-rated thriller having entered Prime Video’s global charts for the first time on June 11, merely a day later, at 6th. As such, Over Your Dead Body is an instant streaming hit, faring better than it did in theaters. The movie has since climbed even higher on Prime Video’s global charts and is trending in 25 countries, including Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and more. The R-rated thriller is only available to rent or purchase on Prime Video in the United States.

Over Your Dead Body stars Jason Segel as Dan Burton and Samara Weaving as Lisa Burton, a married couple who decide to travel to a remote cabin near a lake amid an increasingly unhappy marriage. Unbeknownst to the other, each character comes to the location with their own plan for how to kill their spouse, leading to mayhem as everything comes to light. Over Your Dead Body is the English-language remake of 2011’s The Trip, which starred Aksel Hennie (The Martian) as Lars and Noomi Rapace (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) as Lisa.

In Over Your Dead Body, Olyphant gives life to Pete, one of the fugitives who recently escaped prison and was hiding in the attic of the couple’s remote cabin. Over Your Dead Body‘s streaming success on Prime Video connects with the positive reception to the R-Rated thriller. While the 2026 movie might not have put a dent in the box office, Over Your Dead Body stands at a decent 69% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a strong 77% audience score. In ScreenRant’s Over Your Dead Body review, Gregory Nussen claims Over Your Dead Body is “wickedly hilarious” when it works.
