Over the last 10 years, Prime Video has built out a handful of flagship properties, but few have returned on their investment as well as Bosch. Titus Welliver first suited up as the LA-based detective all the way back in 2014 for the first season of the hit detective thriller, and the rest was history. Fans enjoyed new seasons of Bosch regularly until the show came to a natural end in 2021, but it didn’t take Amazon long to figure out how to best use the character. Welliver was brought back for a new series, Bosch: Legacy, and while it was just as popular as its predecessor, it was canceled after only three seasons. The franchise is still going strong, though, with several spin-offs, including one returning as soon as next month.
While not yet officially confirmed, it’s been reported that the highly-anticipated second season of Ballard is coming to Prime Video next month. It wouldn’t be unlike the streamer to keep things close to the vest before unleashing the first images for Season 2, followed closely by an official trailer and release date. Not only are fans going to be treated to an entirely new season of a Bosch show this summer, reports indicate that Titus Welliver will once again reprise his role as Bosch in Season 2 of Ballard. Welliver also recently confirmed that there have been talks about reviving the character in another Bosch show, but that they’re more passive discussions, not actively developing a new project. Still, it’s comforting for fans to know that Amazon is aware of Bosch’s importance, and it isn’t looking to cast him to the side anytime soon.

Ballard earned a perfect 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated show in the Bosch franchise. Fans were skeptical about the lack of Titus Welliver, who only appeared in a few episodes, but his appearance was enough to win over long-time fans of his work.
