Reigning champion Tadese Takele (2:03:23) has been handed a double-boost, with the injury-enforced withdrawals of 2025 runner-up Timothy Kiplagat and 2024 Berlin champion Milkesa Mengesha. However, the Ethiopian is still one of seven contenders with sub-2:04 personal bests.
Included among them are Kenya’s two-time Tokyo bronze medalist Vincent Kipkemoi, who’s yet to win a WMM, and his compatriot Alexander Mutiso, the 2024 London winner (2:04:01).
