2026 has been a wild year for Tom Hardy, who has spent a considerable amount of time in the news cycle despite not having a single new project hit the big or small screen. Hardy’s name was swirling around the world when news broke earlier this year that he had been fired from MobLand after filming the second season, indicating that he would not return should the show be renewed for Season 3. This report has since been debunked, and Paramount has confirmed that Hardy will reprise his role as Harry Da Souza in a potential third season of the Guy Ritchie-directed crime drama. Hardy has spent the better part of the last 10 years playing Venom in the Sony Spider-Man Universe, but it seems his time with the character is officially behind him.
Hardy has starred in so many famous movies and TV shows over the years that it’s only natural for some to fly under the radar more than others. One of his films that’s been largely forgotten to time is The Code, which co-stars Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas. The caper crime thriller, formerly titled Thick as Thieves, is a must-watch for fans of Heat and The Departed, as it centers around one final job for a young man trying to repay his debt to the Russian mob. Years after The Code grossed only $6 million at the box office against a $25 million budget, the film has found a home streaming on Prime Video. However, it’s also streaming for free on the Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and even Tubi.

What Is ‘The Code’ About?
A brief synopsis for The Code, which earned scores of 17% from critics and 33% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, reads as follows: “A veteran thief recruits a young crook to help him pull off one final job in order to repay his debt to the Russian mob.” Ted Humphrey wrote the script for The Code and Mimi Leder directed the film. Leder has also worked as a long-time producer of The Morning Show, the Apple TV series starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. She even produced episodes of ER, the ’90s medical drama starring Noah Wyle from The Pitt.
