Tomb Raider Fans May Be Waiting A Lot Longer For Its Newest Games

Announced as early as 2022 as a new, Crystal Dynamics-developed Tomb Raider game, it seems like there is a possibility now that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis may be getting hit with a delay that would effectively push it out of its planned 2026 release window. The silence surrounding this highly anticipated remake has been deafening, which is particularly concerning as the franchise is celebrating Tomb Raider’s 30th anniversary this year, lending credence to the rumor.

The rumor itself is on shaky footing because the source is apparently left anonymous, but Twitter/X user Society of Raiders claims that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will now be released in February 2027. This would be quite significant, if legitimate, as a delay to one upcoming Tomb Raider game could have a considerable effect on when another is slated for release.

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Could Release In 2027 Now

There is little to the rumor as it is, and thus, fans should take it with a grain of salt. That said, it is nearly the summer of 2026 already with no official updates on Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis’ release date, and fall 2026 is quickly stacking knockout blockbusters like Marvel’s Wolverine and Grand Theft Auto 6.

Of course, it would not be out of the realm of possibility for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis to release this summer, perhaps with one or two trailers preceding the launch. And, with Summer Game Fest 2026 kicking off in a couple of months, there might be a chance that this Tomb Raider 1 remake/reimagining is shadow-dropped.

Does A Delay Mean Two New Tomb Raider Games In 2027?

Most interestingly, perhaps, is that a delay from 2026 to 2027 for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis would suggest that it and Crystal Dynamics’ other new Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, could be launching back-to-back in the same year. Indeed, the simultaneous announcements for these games revealed a 2026 release window for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and a 2027 release windowfor Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

Depending on how much Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios wish to saturate 2027 with Tomb Raider games or let each of them breathe, a Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delay could see the delay of Tomb Raider: Catalyst to 2028. Either way, it will be interesting to see what Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios’ approach is with both games.
