Tomb Raider Free Download Officially Available Until May 19

Tomb Raider is having a big year in celebration of its 30th anniversary, but amidst all the hype, there’s also a bit of bad news for fans. In the years since Tomb Raider‘s last big adventure, the IP has made miscellaneous appearances in crossover content, one of which is about to become unavailable to those who don’t act in time.

In this case, the news comes courtesy of FuturLab, the studio behind the oddly satisfying PowerWash Simulator. Thanks to the end of the studio’s “formal relationship with Square Enix,” a couple of free downloads are departing PowerWash Simulator next month.

Tomb Raider Fans Can Grab A Free Download Now

Cleaning the Croft Manor in PowerWash Simulator

Tomb Raider fans officially have until May 19 to download the Tomb Raider and Midgar special packs, which are currently available for free in the game. The Tomb Raider pack provides a version of Croft Manor desperately in need of a deep clean, while Midgar offers a slice of Final Fantasy 7‘s central city. It’s certainly less adventurous than typical Tomb Raider experiences, but it can be a nice way for dedicated fans to see an iconic setting in a new light.

For the uninitiated, the relaxing PowerWash Simulator is exactly what you’d expect, dropping players into dirty settings and giving them a pressure washer to make things right. While the base game starts out with the kind of mundane suburban environments you’d expect, PowerWash Simulator isn’t afraid of greater flights of fancy, and the Tomb Raider and FF7 DLCs unleash a more radical form of creativity.

This Tomb Raider DLC Is Leaving Forever In May

The packs can be claimed through official store pages from Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo, with direct links provided in Futurlab’s announcement. The offer ends at 10:00 AM EST on May 19, with Futurlab thanking Square Enix for being “an incredible partner” up to this point.

PowerWash Simulator currently retails for $24.99 digitally, including the Tomb Raider and Midgar special packs, along with a Santa’s Workshop setting, as free add-ons. Meanwhile, other collaborations like Shrek, Spongebob, and Back to the Future can be purchased separately as paid DLC or in larger bundles.

It’s a shame to see the free content go, but it feels like a bit of a miracle that Tomb Raider and FF7 ever made it into the game to begin with. As long as you download them now, they’ll be free to keep after PowerWash Simulator delists the Square Enix crossovers. Those who don’t claim anything before the deadline, however, will be permanently out of luck.
