Tony Awards 2026: How Daniel Radcliffe’s Son Inspired Every Brilliant Thing

[

Daniel Radcliffe didn’t need veritaserum to know this truth.

The Harry Potter star reflected on his recent run on Broadway’s Every Brilliant Thing—a one-man show that saw him performing eight shows across six days every week—and how his and Erin Darke‘s 3-year-old son didn’t seem to mind his dad’s absence.

“There’s some ways in which theater is great for having a kid,” Daniel told E! News at the 2026 Tony Awards—where he’s nominated for Lead Actor in a Play—on June 7. “You get so much time during the day to be with them, but the six days a week—that gets tough eventually and like I really missed him.”

He then quipped, “He was fine, he didn’t miss me.”

For the 36-year-old, while his absence didn’t seem to weigh on his child—whose name he and Erin haven’t revealed—Daniel said his son was always on his mind while performing Every Brilliant Thing, which is a reflection on the many moments that make life joyous.
