Uncharted 5 Setting And Lead Character Splits Gamers

With Naughty Dog currently working hard on their latest IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, some would think they had little time for anything else. Not the case though, as they have confirmed they are working on a second unannounced project as well. While many believe it will be The Last of Us: Part 3, many others think a new Uncharted adventure is well overdue. Is Uncharted 5 coming soon?

Well, according to an insider named Alir, Naugty Dog’s second project is in fact Uncharted 5, and we may be seeing it sooner than we think. With Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet due for release in mid 2027, we might be seeing a brand new Uncharted adventure as early as 2028. Fan speculation is at an all-time high about who will take the leading role in the next Uncharted game.

Uncharted 5 Has A Lot Of Potential

A Family Affair

With the ending of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, we were very much presented with the end of Nathan’s journey. With a time jump showing he’d had plenty of adventures but seemed now settled down with his wife and now young adult daughter Cassie. Fans are speculating if the tagline A Thief’s End really does mean Nathan has hung up his baseball shirt for the last time, or could we be looking at a new generational dynamic duo?

With fans waiting for nearly a decade for a new adventure, Uncharted has been away for too long. The combination of Cassie and Nathan, though, is certainly appealing. Naughty Dog has certainly explored the Father/Daughter dynamic in The Last of Us series to great success. Is the idea of old man Nathan teaching young and upcoming Cassie the skills of treasure hunting appealing? Many fans think so, with one suggesting:

There are a lot of ifs and speculations to wade through, but if, indeed, Naughty Dog are concurrently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Uncharted 5 at the same time, then we could be seeing a new Drake adventure sooner than ever. Perhaps a 2028 release in time for the Christmas holidays could be within the realms of possibilities? Something to budget for while we wait for more exciting The Last Of Us 3 news to be confirmed.

With fans split over whether Nathan should return or be replaced, there’s certainly a lot to ponder while we await confirmation from Naughty Dog about the future of Uncharted 5. Will it be Jake and Sully or Cassie and Nathan driving the franchise forward? Or will we see a new protagonist entirely?
