United Agents, the London literary and talent agency that reps the likes of Jessie Buckley, Kate Winslet, Olivia Colman, Ricky Gervais and Rosamund Pike, is expanding into to the unscripted business with the launch of a dedicated division.
The new arm will represent figures from factual and reality TV alongside digital-first creators and influencers and, according to the company, will also seek to support it existing clients looking to “explore opportunities in unscripted television and branded content.”
As United Agents noted, the newly launched arm “more accurately represents the multi-platform worlds and multi-hyphenate artists of modern entertainment.”
The department will merge United Agents’ existing list of hosts and unscripted talent, with recent projects including Steph McGovern hosting “The Big Deal with Steph McGovern” for the BBC, Susie Dent’s Channel 4 show “Secret Genius,” the appearance of four United Agents’ clients — Kate Garraway, Nick Mohammed, Paloma Faith and David Olusoga — in the first season of “Celebrity Traitors” and Stephen Libby’s “The Traitors” win earlier this year and Tom Read Wilson’s runner-up appearance in “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.”
Additional clients now being looked after by the department include Ashley James, Nigel Ng, Donal Skehan, Francesca Rowan-Plowden, Lucy Watson and Harry Trevaldwyn, as well as a growing slate of creators such as Max Fosh, Henry Rowley, Hayley Morris, Gaz Oakley, The Squid Vids and Sam Morris.
Heading the division will be Matt Nicholls, who has been at United Agents since 2010 after nearly a decade in television production, while it has also appointed its first external hire in Holly Hirsch. Hirsch joins the department from Mirador, and specialises in digitally‑native talent, bridging online audiences with live comedy and scripted acting.
“This is a natural evolution for United Agents. We’ve long represented talent who thrive in unscripted and entertainment formats, and this new division allows us to formalise that work and build on it with even greater focus and ambition,” said Nicholls. “I’m delighted to welcome Holly to the team, and together we are looking forward to championing talent who are redefining what entertainment looks like. UA’s new division will work closely with broadcasters, streamers, and production companies to develop and package standout projects, while also nurturing the next generation of creators and presenters.”
