Rebecca Yarros’ romantasy phenomenon has dragons, a sprawling fantasy mythology, war, a bit of spicy content, and now the author has personally announced that Fourth Wing: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 will officially be released on April 6, 2027. The author shared the news with fans on Instagram while revealing that she is currently going through proofs for the project, writing:
“First, I’m in proofs for the graphic novel,” Yarros told her followers, before announcing, “Second, Fourth Wing, The Graphic Novel: Volume One releases April 6, 2027!”
Yarros also revealed just how quickly her readers discovered the book after it quietly appeared online for pre-order, telling fans, “We popped it up on preorder and you guys found it with a QUICKNESS!”
The response shouldn’t come as much of a surprise though, because a Signed Deluxe Edition was among the versions made available for pre-order and has already sold out on Amazon, once again demonstrating the enormous audience Yarros has built around the Empyrean series.

‘Fourth Wing’ Is Getting More Than One Graphic Novel
The first volume won’t attempt to cram Yarros’ entire original novel into a single book. Fourth Wing: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 runs for 256 pages and adapts Chapters 1 through 22, effectively covering the first half of Violet’s original adventure. Even more importantly, Yarros herself has adapted the novel for the new format.
The book will be fully illustrated in colour, giving readers a new visual interpretation of Violet Sorrengail, Xaden Riorson, Basgiath War College and the dragons that have helped turn Fourth Wing into one of fantasy’s biggest modern franchises. Fourth Wing: The Graphic Novel, Volume 2 is already planned to complete the story, while graphic novel adaptations of Iron Flame and Onyx Storm are also on the way.
The original Fourth Wing follows 20-year-old Violet after her mother forces her to abandon her expected future in the Scribe Quadrant and instead enter Basgiath War College’s deadly Riders Quadrant, where candidates compete for the chance to bond with dragons. What follows turned the Empyrean series into one of publishing’s biggest fantasy phenomena and has already spawned two sequels, Iron Flame and Onyx Storm.
