Wonder Man will bring down the curtain on Marvel‘s 2025 release slate. The forthcoming miniseries, billed as a situational comedy, will debut in December, so now’s as good a time as any to learn more about it.
Below, I’ve rounded up all the latest information on the Disney+ TV Original. That includes its confirmed cast and other actors rumored to appear, any plot details that have been revealed, and when its first trailer might drop.
So, whether you’re already excited for this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV show or want to learn more about it, dive in!
Wonder Man release window
Wonder Man doesn’t have an official release date yet. However, we’ve known for over a year that it’ll arrive in December 2025 – indeed, Marvel confirmed as much when it announced its full 2025 Disney+ TV line-up in November 2024.
Hopefully, its confirmed launch date will be announced in the near future. Per marvel.com, a Marvel TV and Animation panel will be held at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, October 11, so we can expect to learn more about its premiere date very soon.
Wonder Man trailer: is there one?
Nope. There are some all-too-brief snippets of footage in a Disney+ ‘coming soon in 2025’ teaser, which you can watch above. Those clips aside, though, we’ve yet to see anything about this Marvel Phase 6 TV show.
Like its release date, though, Wonder Man‘s first teaser is almost certain to be revealed at New York Comic-Con 2025 and released online soon after. Once it is, I’ll update this section.
Wonder Man cast: confirmed and rumored

So far, only two actors have been confirmed to appear in Wonder Man:
- Yahha Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man
- Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery
Arguably best known for appearing in Warner Bros’ Aquaman movie adaptations as David Kane/Black Manta, Abdul-Mateen II becomes the latest actor to appear in DC and Marvel’s cinematic franchises.
Hired to play Wonder Man‘s lead character in late 2022, Abdul-Mateen II will portray Simon Williams, an aspiring actor/stuntman who auditions for the lead role of a superhero TV series. When Wonder Man begins, Williams will be unaware that he actually possesses superpowers, which should make for a very metatextual and potentially amusing story if he lands the job.
Joining Abdul-Mateen II on the confirmed cast roster is British icon Ben Kingsley (The Thursday Murder Club, Gandhi). He’ll reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, an amateur actor who’s appeared in two Marvel films, Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi. Based on what little footage we’ve seen, Slattery will become Williams’ mentor – a prospect that’ll flavor Wonder Man with some odd couple sensibilities.
The pair is expected to be joined by a trio of familiar faces. Per TVLine and comicbook.com, Demetrius Grosse (Justified, Banshee) will portray Simon’s brother Eric, who should be the main villain of the piece. Don’t worry, unless it’s revealed in a forthcoming trailer or TV spot, I won’t spoil who his antagonistic alter-ego is ahead of time.
Anyway, Deadline has also claimed Ed Harris (Apollo 13, The Truman Show) will portray Neal Sorayan, aka Simon’s agent. Arian Moayed’s Agent Cleary, a Department of Damage Control (DoDC) employee who briefly showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Ms Marvel, is also said to appear (again, per Deadline).
Other actors have been rumored to be part of the cast, but I’ll hold off on mentioning them until we get official confirmation that they’ll actually be part of the show’s story. Speaking of which…
Wonder Man story speculation
Possible spoilers follow for Wonder Man.
Predictably, Wonder Man doesn’t have a story synopsis yet. However, based on what’s been publicly discussed, plus what was shown in the above ‘coming in 2025’ sizzle reel, we can infer some things about it.
First, as The Hollywood Reporter (THR) outlined in June 2022, Wonder Man will adapt a specific part of the character’s backstory in Marvel Comics. In the source material, Simon Williams takes up a day job as an actor/stuntman, so his TV series is clearly taking inspiration from that aspect of his comic book history.
That doesn’t mean we won’t learn about Williams’ superpowered backstory. It should differ somewhat from his comic book counterpart’s origins, though, mostly because Williams was created as a foe to the Avengers before becoming a hero in his own right. Wonder Man would have to do a lot of heavy lifting from a storytelling perspective if it didn’t alter this part of his backstory, so I predict Wonder Man will change how Williams gained his superpowers.
Contrary to online rumors, this MCU project won’t comprise 10 episodes. Speaking on the Phase Hero podcast last November, Marvel’s Head of Television, Animation, and Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed it would be an eight-part series. Considering it’ll be a sitcom-style TV production, I suspect each entry will be around 30 minutes.
Wonder Man could have ties to previous Marvel shows, too. As it’s based in the MCU’s version of Hollywood and the wider Los Angeles area, it wouldn’t be surprising if it references She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. That legal comedy was also set in LA, so this MCU Phase 4 TV series could be mentioned in some capacity. Is it a stretch to suggest K.E.V.I.N., the artificial intelligence – and caricature of Marvel President Kevin Feige – that claims to be in charge of the MCU, will be part of proceedings, or even the brains behind the in-universe show that Williams is auditioning for?
Without getting into the weeds of his literary ties to Vision and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (I don’t want to spoil anything that could happen in this show), Williams’ MCU debut could also include references to WandaVision and its pseudo-sequel Agatha All Along, aka two of the best Disney+ shows around. It’s possible Wonder Man may set up events to come in the untitled Vision TV show arriving next year, too, but I’ll discuss that in more detail in the section below.
With more superpowered beings living and/or operating out of other Californian cities like San Francisco, such as Shang-Chi and Scott Lang/Ant-Man, I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re mentioned in passing and/or there are Easter eggs relating to these superhumans. From a world-building viewpoint, then, Wonder Man might fit seamlessly into the larger MCU tapestry if it does any or all of the above.
Will there be more seasons of Wonder Man?
That’s unclear. Right now, it’s billed as a limited series, which is industry speak for a show that’ll only last for one season.
Speaking at Disney Upfront 2025 (as reported by THR), Winderbaum highlighted the fact that not every Marvel TV show will get another season. However, that’s more likely to be the case for “shows with marquee names”, Winderbaum said. Given Wonder Man isn’t currently a household name, it’s possible that a second season could be greenlit if it’s a smash hit.
Even if the Abdul-Mateen II-led production is a one-and-done scenario, its potential impact on the MCU could be significant.
For one thing, it might establish the plot of the Vision-fronted Disney+ series. Again, this is entirely dependent on whether Wonder Man references the character’s ties to Vision in the comics. If it does, both series could end up setting the scene for the arrival of the West Coast Avengers. An offshoot of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that operates out of California, this group has counted Williams, Scarlet Witch, and Vision among its ensemble since its comic book debut in September 1984. Wonder Man could sow the seeds for not only the MCU’s forthcoming Vision project, but a small-screen Avengers team-up, too.
