X-Files Star Gillian Anderson’s Official Scully Return “Should’ve Happened Years Ago”

Ever since the original run of The X-Files ended in 2002, fans have been clamoring for a true return to form of the dynamic duo solving paranormal cases once more. While the series has already moved beyond its original cast with several sequels and reboots to help fill the void left behind by the beloved sci-fi series, the best X-Files seasons and episodes always tend to land in the early era of the franchise.

Thankfully, in addition to the upcoming X-Files reboot on the way with an all-new cast, long-time fans of the series will be thrilled to know about the latest official project, which saw the return of Gillian Anderson reprising her iconic role as Scully once more.

While the collaboration had already been in the works for months at this point, Gillian finally appeared in a promotional video posted by the DiscussingFilm X account for the official reveal of a LEGO crossover. In the official trailer, Scully receives a mysterious package that turns out to be none other than the upcoming X-Files-themed LEGO set, making several jokes and in-character remarks while building before having the finished set abducted before her own eyes.

Although the main purpose of the trailer is purely to help promote the incredibly detailed new LEGO set releasing on August 4, fans have been flooding the comments over how excited they are to see Gillian Anderson and a new X-Files LEGO set, with CutXaction declaring the actor’s return “the crossover nobody expected but everyone needed.”

Even if it’s a shame that Scully’s official return is only for such a short video, X user Diane Rica joined in on the excitement by sharing the need for “David Duchovny to do a Lego commercial of this too,” which would fulfill the ever-growing fan demand for another reunion of the dynamic duo once more after nearly a decade of hoping for their return.

While the LEGO IP is no stranger to countless excellent crossovers over the years, it’s not hard to agree with fans saying that this particular collaboration is long overdue. The set itself feels like a dream come true for long-time fans of the paranormal investigation series, with the actress herself expressing the excitement in the following quote taken from the official LEGO page.

This set is a wonderful celebration of the X-Files, and the fans who have kept its mystery alive. Aside from the obvious 8 recreations of Scully, Mulder, Skinner, and numerous other characters from the early seasons of The X-Files rendered in minifigure form, the set is absolutely dripping with Easter eggs and references from across the series.

From small details like a Purity oil spill, Mulder’s yellow pencils sticking to the roof, and even a printed LEGO piece of the ever-iconic ‘I want to believe’ UFO poster, the upcoming X-Files LEGO collaboration feels like a perfect love letter to the legendary sci-fi franchise.
