A lot of changes are going on for Xbox Game Pass right now, and there are now rumors about something big coming soon, which may inaugurate a new era for Microsoft’s popular subscription service. Members are getting tons of new games, and March has proven to be a bountiful month for subscribers, with over 20 additions to the catalog. This includes older titles and even some day-one releases, like Vampire Crawlers on Xbox Game Pass.

Apart from the usual additions to the catalog every month, the service is also being slightly modified. As was announced a few days ago, there is a price reduction for the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers. This price drop for Xbox Game Pass will come with no new Call of Duty day-one releases moving forward, though other day-one titles are still contemplated. For those who don’t care much about the FPS franchise, this is a great improvement.

However, it seems like these are not the only changes in store. In addition to the new Xbox and Discord integration, teased by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, players may soon be able to somewhat customize their subscription. According to a report by The Gamer, gaming insider Jez Corden claims that members will soon be able to pick what parts of their subscription they want and, by doing so, modify its price, respectively.

For example, if members don’t want the Fortnite Crew benefit because they don’t play the game, they can forfeit it to pay less for their Xbox Game Pass subscription. The contrary is rumored to be true as well. For instance, you could potentially take on a World of Warcraft or a Netflix subscription via your Game Pass membership, and this would increase its base price.

According to the report, this is a way of tailoring your subscription to your style. You should pay less if you use fewer of its benefits, but will still be able to get these benefits at a better price than you would if you were to subscribe to them individually. This has yet to be confirmed, but it seems like members are already enjoying this new approach to bonuses on Xbox Game Pass.

In response to a post on Reddit sharing the report by The Gamer, some users celebrate this new era for Xbox. User mechsuit-jalapeno, for instance, shows interest in the rumored system, saying that they “don’t need half the things I pay for.” User GdSmth also mentions that they “will benefit from these changes” since they don’t use the bonuses provided by the service, apart from the additions to Xbox Game Pass.

For now, looking at it superficially, these changes may be great for members, as they could potentially reduce their subscription price by removing the benefits they don’t use. Some users, however, are cautious. ApocApollo believes that Microsoft is “probably just figuring out a way to charge you slightly less money for significantly less content.”

How this will come to effect, if it does, remains to be seen. There are a lot of changes happening to the service under the new Xbox CEO, and the price drops are only the start. More information about the integration with Discord will soon be announced, and if the rumors are true, there’s a lot more in store for Xbox Game Pass this year.
