Since it was first launched back in 1998, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has found itself hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, and a favorite for The Legend of Zelda fans. Launched on the Nintendo 64 and marking itself as the first Zelda game to feature 3D graphics, Ocarina of Time followed the story of the beloved Link as he embarks on a journey across Hyrule to put a stop to the evil Ganondorf. By traveling through time and navigating challenging dungeons, Link must play songs on his ocarina in order to progress, making the game’s soundtrack just another reason why it is considered a classic.
Back in 2011, an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time titled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, was released for the Nintendo 3DS but, other than that, the beloved ’98 action-adventure game is yet to receive a modern-day remake, leaving fans to speculate as to whether it may become a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive in the future.
Although such a remake has not been confirmed by Nintendo, there are rumors that it exists, but with fans worried that it may not capture the magic of the original, does Nintendo have what it takes to bring The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D to the modern-era of gaming without disappointing fans?
Well, that remains to be seen, but for now, one YouTuber has caught the eyes of such fans by showcasing a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time anime made using Unreal Engine 5, leaving many to speculate that this colorful art-style may just suit a potential remake of the game.
In the video shared to RwanLink’s YouTube channel, we can see the moment that Link enters Gerudo Fortress in Ocarina of Time, albeit in a much more cinematic and anime-esque style. Although a video game remake would not match this level of animation, there is no denying that the bright and fun vibes would perfectly suit a modern-day remake, instead of focusing on the more gritty variations that others have suggested over the years.
With over 600,000 views, it is safe to say that The Legend of Zelda fans have been enjoying this unique spin on Ocarina of Time, and they took to the comments to share their thoughts. “I love how you took the original area, which was just the fortress part, and turned it into an actual full-fledged town,” one comment read. “This is exactly the type of change I’d want and expect from an official remake: not turning it into something completely different, but expanding it in just the right ways to enhance what was already there. Bravo.” Another agreed, adding, “I like how it’s a mix of OoT and BotW/TotK.“
With many fans encouraging Nintendo to hire RwanLink on any upcoming Zelda projects, it seems as though this project is a hit and has inspired fans to keep pushing for that highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
