No streaming service has more movies readily available to stream for subscribers than Amazon Prime Video. It is home to more than 20,000 films, which is significantly ahead of basically every other platform. Prime’s catalog also features an impressive number of original movies that are mostly exclusive to the streaming service. It’s a strong list of films, with many receiving widespread critical acclaim, becoming huge hits with audiences, and featuring some of the most notable actors in Hollywood.
Among Prime Video’s best original movies are Air, Sound of Metal, The Big Sick, The Vast of Night, Hedda, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, My Old Ass, One Night in Miami…, Uncle Frank, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, You Were Never Really Here, and Saltburn. While those cover genres from drama to sci-fi to musicals to comedies, some of the best Prime Video originals are in the romantic comedy genre and are just a blast to watch.
Prime Video’s slate of great original rom-coms features some of the best actors around, including Anne Hathaway, Alison Brie, Camila Mendes, Nicholas Galitzine, Kathryn Newton, and more. While it’s not everything put out by the streaming service in the genre, these are the best due to the reception they received from critics and subscribers.

Somebody I Used To Know (2023)
The relationship between a director and a film’s star is important to the success of a project, which is part of why Somebody I Used to Know worked so well. The film features Alison Brie in the lead role, while it’s directed by her husband, Dave Franco. The plot centers on Brie’s Ally, the showrunner of a reality TV series that gets canceled, as she returns to her hometown to regroup.
While at home, Ally reunites with her ex Sean (Jay Ellis) and comes to grips with aspects of her life, while also running into trouble when she meets Sean’s fiancée Cassidy (Kiersey Clemons). The supporting cast also includes talents like Zoë Chao, Sam Richardson, and Danny Pudi, and the end result is a well-received rom-com that’s worth checking out.

Upgraded (2024)
People aren’t talking enough about it, but Camila Mendes is kind of becoming a modern queen of the romantic comedy genre. She has two standout original movies in the genre on Prime Video, which came out the same year. The first is Upgraded, which sees her portray Ana, an ambitious intern in the New York art world.
Upgraded is something of a modern retelling of Cinderella, yet it feels unique enough that you might not realize it. Ana has her life and career changed when she’s upgraded on a flight to London. She falls for William (Archie Renaux), who she meets at the airport, and their chemistry helps the film succeed.

The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things (2021)
The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is unlike any other romantic comedy on this list. That’s because the film is rooted in the sci-fi genre, as it follows two teenagers who are trapped in a time loop and fall for each other while trying to find a way out. Of course, escaping the time loop could also split them apart.
The movie features two leads who deliver strong performances, as Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen are adorable together. The Map of Tiny Perfect Things sits at a solid 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus being that although the premise isn’t anything new, the charm of it all puts it over the top.

Something From Tiffany’s (2022)
At first glance, Something From Tiffany’s looks like another run-of-the-mill holiday romantic comedy. While those can be enjoyable, so many get released annually that it’s easy for them to get overlooked and for them to all feel the same. However, Something From Tiffany’s is actually a great hidden gem thanks to its leads and fun setup.
The story centers on Rachel (Zoey Deutch) and Ethan (Kendrick Sampson) as two people in relationships who have gifts from Tiffany’s, including an engagement ring, get mixed up. The two meet up to fix the situation, only to start to fall for each other, which throws a wrench into their own relationships.

The Idea Of You (2024)
One of the most popular romantic comedies on Prime Video is The Idea of You. That’s because it immediately caught the eyes of everyone thanks to the leads, Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine. The premise of the film is also what grabbed people, as it sees Soléne (Hathaway) take her daughter to a concert, only to fall for the younger pop star (Galitzine).
The Idea of You sees the two struggle with the scandalous nature of their relationship, the fact that paparazzi are invested in it, and more. Hathaway and Galitzine are electric together, helping the movie earn its 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s one of Prime’s most viewed and talked about projects.

Red, White & Royal Blue (2023)
Speaking of Nicholas Galitzine, he’s the star of another hit romantic comedy for Prime Video. Red, White & Royal Blue is also based on a novel of the same name as well, and was another hit with both critics and audiences. Another similarity it shares with The Idea of You is that it’s about a scandalous relationship.
The story sees the son of the President of the United States (Taylor Zakhar Prince) and a British Prince (Galitzine) start a love affair. The two actors are great together, while the supporting cast of Uma Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, and more are also fantastic. The beloved film is also getting a sequel, Red, White & Royal Wedding, though no release date is set.

Música (2024)
As noted earlier, the relationship between a filmmaker and the lead actor is important for a movie to click. Música features that because it was directed and co-written by Rudy Mancuso, who also stars alongside Camila Mendes. Mancuso and Mendes started dating after filming and got engaged near the end of 2025.
Música follows Rudy, a man with synesthesia (the ability to see music) who falls for Isabella (Mendes) as he talks to her about his dreams. With a focus on the romance as well as music and Brazilian culture, Música ended up as a hit for Prime Video, including holding a whopping 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

I Want You Back (2022)
I Want You Back kind of has everything you could want in a good romantic comedy. The cast of Jenny Slate, Charlie Day, Manny Jacinto, Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, and Clark Backo is great; the chemistry between everybody is strong; it has some fun twists and turns, and it’s sweet to its core.
The main setup surrounds Emma (Slate) and Peter (Day) as two people who try to help the other win back their respective exes, who have moved on to new relationships. Along the way, Emma and Peter start to have feelings for each other, which complicates their plans and changes their lives. I Want You Back received strong reviews from critics and is an easy rom-com to watch over and over.
