NordVPN has rolled out a completely redesigned mobile app, aiming to deliver a cleaner, more intuitive user experience. Rather than introducing new encryption protocols or security features, the update focuses entirely on usability — refining the way users navigate, connect, and monitor their protection.
As the company explains in a blog post, the changes were built upon user research and feedback, with the key goal of simplifying the UI without compromising on advanced functionality.
The update is the latest step in NordVPN’s ongoing work on evolving its product as one of the best VPNs around.
A cleaner interface for everyday use
The change that stands out the most is the streamlined interface that reduces visual clutter while keeping key controls front and center.
When you open the app, your suggested server appears immediately, allowing you to connect without having to click through multiple menus. City names are displayed alongside country names, too.
If you’ve set a preferred location, it remains pinned as your default choice, so your experience is consistent each time you launch the app. Security status indicators and core connection action buttons are still instantly visible, but the layout has been refined and feels more focused and less crowded.
In the update, NordVPN also reworked the way users explore and switch locations. The map now opens in a more compact view that highlights your current connection for a quick overview. If you prefer a broader view, the map can be expanded to full-screen, letting you scroll freely and connect via marked location pins.
Search has been consolidated into a single, unified interface. Whether you’re looking for a specific country, a specialty server type, or even a Meshnet device, you can access all of it from a single search field. The “All locations” button opens the complete list, and advanced users can still connect to specific servers by typing in their unique server number.
Together, the updates mean less hopping between menus, faster server-swapping, and more precise control over how and where you connect.
Making protection more visible
Beyond visual polish, NordVPN is also expanding how you can see your protection in action. The updated statistics section now shows how long your connection has been secured, alongside weekly comparisons to help track your usage trends over time.
On Android, Call Protection statistics break down how often scam or unwanted calls have been blocked.
Looking ahead, NordVPN also plans for the Threat Protection tab to start displaying daily charts and weekly summaries. These will show how many ads, trackers, and malicious sites have been stopped during browsing sessions. These statistics are stored locally on your device, keeping the data private.
The app redesign is one more milestone in a busy year for NordVPN.
In 2026 alone, the company reaffirmed its no-logs policy for a sixth time through an independent audit. It also announced a partnership with CrowdStrike aimed at strengthening its Threat Protection Pro suite. Additionally, it introduced improvements for users connecting from 30 harder-to-reach countries.
Although the latest mobile app’s refresh focuses on usability rather than raw security boost, it reinforces NordVPN’s ongoing push to refine both performance and everyday user experience.
