Famous skeptic Jenny McCarthy is weighing in on that bizarre Jim Carrey conspiracy theory.
The actress shared her thoughts on the conspiracy theory, which suggested her ex has a clone that attended an award show in his place, saying, “It was definitely Jim Carrey.”
“He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him,” she told People at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, in an interview published Tuesday, March 31. She added, “That’s the first thing I noticed. I said, ‘Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.'”
McCarthy’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, added that Carrey’s joy got overlooked by the wild theories. “That’s the part that, sadly, people miss. We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.”
Online sleuths ran with the theory that Carrey, who dated McCarthy from 2005 to 2010, had a clone who attended the 2026 César Awards in Paris on Feb. 26, where he received an honorary César.
Carrey’s rep confirmed it was him who attended the award ceremony in a statement to USA TODAY at the time. Variety also confirmed with the César Awards that Carrey accepted the honor, with the general delegate of France’s highest national film honors, Gregory Caulier, telling the outlet that Carrey’s attendance had been planned well in advance.

Carrey delivered an emotional speech, in French, tracing his ancestry to France and paying tribute to his late father, Percy Joseph Carrey. The speech earned a standing ovation from onlookers.
“He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,” Caulier added. “He came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members. His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again.”
Variations of the clone conspiracy theory have claimed many stars as victims over the years, including Avril Lavigne and rapper Gucci Mane. The theories are unfounded and have been repeatedly debunked.
