WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS from Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 8.New updates about Matt Murdock’s Marvel Cinematic Universe return in 2027 are already emerging following his 2026 ending.
Marvel Studios is already working on Daredevil: Born Again season 3, as filming has been underway since March. Showrunner Dario Scardapane gave a new update to Entertainment Weekly that principal photography will be wrapping in just a few months, saying, “I’m writing the finale right now. We wrap in early July at this point. So we’re right about the halfway mark. All the scripts except the last one are written. We’re shooting episode block 2, so we’re just wrapping up episode 4 right now. We’re heading into block 5 and 6, and then June-July will be the end.”
The Daredevil: Born Again season 2 ending saw Matt’s life changed forever, as the MCU attorney revealed that he is, in fact, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. While he stopped Wilson Fisk’s mayoral run, the vigilante had to pay a price, as Matt ended up sent to prison by the end of the finale.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley, Brad Winderbaum confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will roughly take place a year after Matt’s identity reveal. The Marvel Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation stated, “There will be a small time jump, but it’s not too significant. It’s not like we’re jumping ahead five years or anything. We’re probably jumping ahead a year or so, kind of like the real-life distance between seasons.”
Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will, more or less, do its own take on The Devil In Cell-Block D storyline from Ed Brubaker’s comic run. While details are still being kept under wraps about Matt’s journey in jail, the next season will see a lot of familiar faces from the Marvel-Netflix era.
Not only will Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones be back, after her return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, but season 3 set photos have also revealed that Mike Colter and Finn Jones will be returning as Luke Cage and Danny Rand. The season finale saw Colter make a cameo towards the end, as he reunited with Jessica and their daughter, Danielle.
The MCU timeline will be sticking with the street-level focus for a few more months, as The Punisher: One Last Kill will premiere on May 12, following Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. The gritty anti-hero will also show up in the first Marvel Studios film for 2026 this summer as he will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
While an exact Daredevil season 3 premiere date has yet to be set by Disney+, the show will return in 2027, with the first two seasons currently available for streaming.
