PlayStation Officially Drops 4 Free Downloads For May, No PS Plus Required

[

Much like myself, 2026 is the year of many major milestones as some of gaming’s biggest franchises celebrate some impressive anniversaries. For example, Nintendo’s franchises Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda will be celebrating their 30th and 40th anniversaries respectively, whilst Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End celebrates a whole decade in the world. It is the latter that we are going to be discussing today, alongside the 9-year anniversary of fellow Uncharted entry, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

It is hard to believe that it has been ten-years since the launch of the most recent mainline Uncharted entry, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, especially as it spelled the end of the Uncharted franchise as we know it. With no sign of an Uncharted 5 on the horizon, Uncharted 4 may have been the last time we saw the escapades of Nathan Drake, but fear not, as PlayStation is celebrating the impressive milestone with a batch of free downloads.

Announced by both PlayStation and Naughty Dog itself, fans of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection can look forward to a batch of free cosmetics which are completely free to download without the need for a PlayStation Plus subscription. Not only is there a brand-new PlayStation 5 dynamic background up for grabs, but there are also four PS5 icons available.

“You’re in luck!” The official Naughty Dog Tweet read, alongside an image of the avatars in question. “Players can redeem avatars of iconic items from the Uncharted series using the following regional codes on the PlayStation Store. Happy 10th anniversary to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End!”

The avatars depict art of some of the game’s most iconic items and symbols, including “the Pirate Coin from Uncharted 4, the Tusk of Ganesh and disc of Ganesh from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and, to pay homage to the entire series, Nate’s iconic Sir Francis Drake ring engraved with “Sic Parvis Magna.”” However, being able to redeem them depends on your region. Fear not, we have you covered. Simply enter the following codes in your PlayStation Store to redeem the brand-new avatars:

  • Americas – HG23-6T4H-RNHQ
  • Europe/Australia – R3ED-24QD-E4DM
  • Japan – L8EF-LAC6-PH3B
  • Korea – FHT3-4RGP-RBJ8
  • Asia – PEC5-32RK-EPEQ

However, as with any announcement in the gaming sphere in recent years, it has been met with mixed reviews, with fans taking to the Twitter comments to share their thoughts on the new Uncharted addition. “This studio today is not the studio that released the trilogy or The Last of Us,” one shared. “Not my Naughty Dog.” Another agreed, adding, “Doing anything but bringing this multiplayer back or putting it on PS5 for free to play.” However, others were pleased with the new avatars, with one user sharing, “Thank you very much for the avatars! We’re happy to celebrate the 10th anniversary for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and very looking forward to seeing the next big release (Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet).”

So, if you are a PS5 user and want to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, make sure to check out this brand-new batch of freebies and show off your appreciation in style.
