LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight

[

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has a lot of upgrade paths. You’ll be able to upgrade tools and gadgets, for example, from work benches scattered around Gotham City’s map or in the Batcave. However, there are also upgrades you unlock with gold Skill Bricks, which you mostly acquire by finishing levels in the main story.

These gold Skill Brick upgrades will improve Batman’s combat skills, increase studs, and a variety of other gameplay aspects, so you definitely don’t want to ignore them. You’ll naturally unlock the first upgrade in a tutorial early in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. After that, you’ll need to access Upgrades in the main menu. Tiers unlock once you complete chapters, so you won’t be able to access all upgrades right away. They’re divided up into Combat and Exploration categories.

Combat & Exploration Upgrades Explained

Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight Upgrades

Which upgrades you prioritize will really come down to your playstyle. If you’re primarily focused on getting Batman as powerful as he can be, you’ll want to focus mostly on the left-hand column. If you’re playing on Classic difficulty, you may not need these kinds of upgrades as much, although they’re still pretty helpful.

The upgrades in the right-hand column are what you’ll want if you’re looking to get Trophies/Achievements the fastest and/or want to buy all the Batsuits and Batcave decorations from Bat-Mite’s shop. This is because these upgrades, especially the early ones, are all about helping you get more LEGO studs — and faster.

As a general rule, anything that increases your LEGO Stud multiplier should be prioritized. Studs are used to buy different Batmobiles, decorations for thet Batcave, Batsuits for Batman, and outfits for the other playable characters in Legacy of the Dark Knight. If you’re a Trophy or Achievement Hunter, there are plenty of trophies/achievements tied either directly to studs or that require you to spend studs to complete them. For example, “Life’s been good to me.” requires you to collect 1,000,000 studs.

Because of this, there are a few upgrades you should get first to help with this in Chapter 1. Those upgrades are:

  • Hyper Combo — increases the maximum stud combo multiplier
  • Stud Magnet – Collect studs from further away
  • Stealthy Studs – Take down enemies without being spotted to increse the Stud Combo Meter

Remember, each one costs 1 gold Skill Brick, which you get by finishing levels in the main story, so you’ll need to play for a bit before you can get all of them. Most of the Stud mutliplier upgrades are on the final tier of the Exploration skill column. Still, you should easily be able to snag these before the end of Chapter 1. This will ensure you have the most studs available by the time you can access the Batcave and Bat-mite’s shop in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which is really when you’ll start spending studs.
