With the video game industry becoming more cutthroat in recent years and some gamers looking for any reason to throw around the words “slop” or “industry plant” when it comes to the latest AAA releases, becoming as well-loved as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is no easy task, but one that the Sandfall Interactive RPG managed back in 2025.
Not only winning the coveted Game of the Year award, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also became the most awarded title in The Game Awards history, managing to win nine out of its thirteen nominations. Praised for its narrative and themes, original soundtrack, A-lister performances, and art direction, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took 2025 by storm.
It is hard to believe that the idea for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came from ex-Ubisoft employee Guillaume Broche, who left the company back in 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic and soon formed Sandfall Interactive. With just a core team of just 30 developers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was born, and it seems as though we have not seen the last of the beloved RPG.
According to insider N1Up, one much-loved classic game is set to make a return and could see Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 included as part of an epic crossover.
The game in question is Rayman Legends, a 2013 platformer and the fifth main installment in the Rayman series by Ubisoft. According to N1Up, there is currently a remake of Rayman Legends in development, according to their source at Ubisoft.
“I have been in contact with a source within Ubisoft itself for quite some time. This source was able to pass on all this information to me previously. I had not shared this before in order to conceal the identity of this contact. Now that so much information is out in the air, I feel safer sharing this information with you. The game will be a remake of Rayman Legends, but in 2.5D. So the game will still primarily (I will come back to this) be a 2D platformer. Rayman has also received a minor redesign. “
The insider goes on to explain that the Rayman Legends remaster will feature “3D segments in the style of Star Fox”, allowing players to fly on the back of dragons and shoot down enemies. Additionally, there will be a brand-new villain and Rayman himself will feature a new look, including “two separate eyes instead of a Sonic-style eye.”
Most exciting, however, is that N1Up claims that Rayman and Globox will receive various new skins, including nods to the original Rayman, as well as crossovers with titles such as Astrobot and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to name but a few. Of course, all of this news should be taken with a pinch of salt as it has not yet been confirmed by Ubisoft. However, it is exciting news for Rayman fans nonetheless, especially those who want to see some of our favorite Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fits make an appearance.
