November 19, 2026 will finally see the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, a day that is surely going to go down in video game history. Other publishers are so terrified of the new GTA that September 2026 is packed with games trying to stay clear of the blast zone, while other titles, like Fable, have retreated to early 2027.
While Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive promised GTA 6 marketing would finally begin properly this Summer, and pre-orders officially go live in just a few days on June 25. I’d imagine we’ll get a third trailer on or before that date, too, meaning November 19 is finally properly locked in as the release date for GTA 6.
Except, of course, GTA 6 won’t be available to everyone on November 19. The game will not be launching on PC alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, and at the time of writing, there’s zero indication of when we can expect GTA 6 to hit PC. Given a lot of PC gamers would think twice about buying an expensive console just to play one game, they’re forced with the prospect of having to sit back and miss out on November 19.
Looking at past Rockstar Games releases, there’s a definite gap between console and PC launches. It was 19 months before GTA V made its way to PC, and 13 months before Red Dead Redemption 2 left consoles. The smart money says we’ll be waiting at least a year, which is less than ideal.
“GTA 6 is the only product that can release exclusively on console and double dip on PC,” one gamer wrote on Reddit. “If [Rockstar] wanted PC day one, the game would be delayed another 6-12 months.”
“They want people to buy the game twice,” another added.
A third wrote, slightly more optimistically: “Yeah, it’s annoying that PC is not getting a release yet. I’m guessing a year or two, but just wait… the PC version will be as god intended, we will get the best of the best in graphics providing you have a decent PC.”
Hopefully Rockstar will have more to share about the PC version of GTA 6 before long, but for now I suspect the focus will very much be on getting those console versions out the door.
