Taylor Sheridan’s Underrated Crime Series With New Episodes On The Way Returns As Streaming Juggernaut

Taylor Sheridan fatigue is not yet a thing.

The prolific TV creator responsible for Yellowstone was only getting started when he introduced the Dutton family saga to Paramount+ subscribers back in 2018. In relatively short order, Sheridan stuffed the streamer’s lineup with multiple Dutton spinoffs, unleashing a content bonanza that kept on giving into 2026 with the premiere of Dutton Ranch season 1. Then there are the non-Yellowstone Sheridan shows: the gritty crime drama Mayor of Kingstown, the pulse-pounding espionage thriller Lioness, and the Billy Bob Thornton oil-man show Landman. Yet another Sheridan-created show is currently offering a demonstration that audiences have yet to tire of the writer-producer’s Paramount+ offerings.

Tulsa King is Sheridan’s Western-flavored take on the gangster genre, and its popularity seemingly knows no limits, as it currently sits at #6 on the Paramount+ worldwide top 10 TV shows chart, even though it’s between seasons at present, with season 3 having ended back in November 2025, and season 4’s premiere date not yet announced.

Paramount+’s top 10 shows list for June 29, 2026 is predictably dominated by Sheridan-created content. Dutton Ranch sits securely at #1, with the franchise flagship Yellowstone checking in at #3. An on-hiatus show like Tulsa King making a sudden appearance in a streamer’s top 10 months after its last new episode, and in the absence of the bump it would naturally get from its next run of episodes being on the horizon, is indeed an eye-opening occurrence, and one that only reaffirms the value of its creator’s content to Paramount+.

But Paramount+ will soon have to learn to get along without Sheridan, who is set to defect to NBCUniversal once his present deal expires. This may mean little for Tulsa King, a show Sheridan has had almost no personal involvement with since writing its pilot, and which has come under the personal stewardship of 101 Studios executive Scott Stone. Indeed, with season 4’s premiere date still pending, Tulsa King season 5 has already opened a writers’ room, a seeming guarantee that the show will last at least through a fifth run of episodes.

Audiences may still be lapping up Sheridan-created content, but Paramount+ is already scaling back on the soon-to-depart mogul’s slate, with Mayor of Kingstown being canceled and its yet-to-premiere final season pared down from 10 to 8. Though their relationship with the Yellowstone creator may be coming to an end, Sheridan’s content will continue to form the core of Paramount+’s roster of offerings.
