‘Misty Green’ Trailer: Chris Rock Returns To The Director’s Chair

We have the first official trailer for Misty Green, the first feature film directed by Chris Rock since 2014’s Top Five. 

Rock directs from a screenplay he also wrote. The film follows Misty, an “undeniably talented actress, but her vices have derailed every attempt to revitalize her career. Her best opportunity in ages arrives in the form of Jordan (Rock), a film director with the perfect role for her – were it not for their contentious past.” 

The film stars Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, and Topher Grace. Peter Rice and Rock produced alongside James Lopez for Macro Film Studios and Tommy Oliver for Confluential Films. Executive producers are Charles D. King for Macro Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver for Confluential Films.  

Rock’s last directorial effort was 2014’s Top Five, a comedy about a New York City comedian and film star, Andre Allen (Rock), who tries to make it as a serious actor when his reality television star fiancée talks him into broadcasting their wedding on her television show. 

Rock also wrote that feature, which also starred J. B. Smoove, Kevin Hart, Sherri Shepherd, Michael Che, Tracy Morgan, Jay Pharoah, Leslie Jones, Cedric the Entertainer, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Before that, Rock directed I Think I Love My Wife (2007), a remake of Éric Rohmer’s 1972 film Love in the Afternoon, and Head of State (2003). He also starred in both films.

Misty Green will debut at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
