The most eagerly awaited spin-off of the year was just shown off to an adoring public at San Diego Comic-Con. Reacher proved to be a huge boon for Prime Video, launching Alan Ritchson as a bona fide star — who’s now getting his shot at being a Hollywood leading man — and doing justice to Lee Child‘s sprawling series of cold-blooded thriller novels. But one of the more surprising sides to that came in the form of a supporting character that nobody quite expected.
Earlier this week, Prime Video unveiled the first official look at Neagley, the upcoming Reacher spin-off starring Maria Sten, ahead of the series’ debut. Premiering on September 16, the original series follows the former 110th Special Investigators member as she works as a private investigator in Chicago, launching her own dangerous investigation after a close friend is killed in what appears to be a suspicious accident.
Now, we’ve got a look at the first trailer, debuted and premiered at San Diego Comic-Con alongside its big brother, and it looks… like Reacher, except with a bit more coolness. Neagley is showing off a bit, with her private investigator skills being put to the test. And they’re making sure you know Ritchson is behind the show, because he appears in a couple of shots in the trailer. Neagley is cocky, confident and not to be messed with. This looks like it’ll be a perfect companion piece.

Who is Frances Neagley?
Neagley is a recurring character in the Jack Reacher novels, although not to the extent that she’s appeared on-screen. Her role was expanded significantly due to Reacher’s introverted nature and internal monologue that runs in Reacher’s head during the books. It was thought a character who could help with exposition would be a good addition to the series, so Neagley emerged and proved to be so popular that she’s appeared in all three seasons so far, as well as grabbing this spin-off for herself.
Alongside Sten, the series stars Greyston Holt (Riverdale), Adeline Rudolph (Mortal Kombat II), Jasper Jones (King Ivory), Matthew Del Negro (Mayor of Kingstown), and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood).
