Netflix’s New Supernatural Drama, Spooky In Love, Is Already Getting A Remake No One Expected

With Episode 6 dropping the series’ biggest cliffhanger yet in the form of an unexpected engagement, Netflix‘s Spooky in Love has soared to #1 in Korea. Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, Park Eun-bin has seemingly grabbed everyone’s attention for the second time this year after The Wonderfools, as Spooky in Love continues to sit comfortably in the top ten globally.

Spooky in Love is still only halfway into its run, though its viewership will likely only continue to grow as the main conflict and mysteries begin to unravel in the second half. Even so, it’s already clear the series will leave fans wanting more by the end. Luckily enough, however, Spooky in Love has already been picked up for a remake.

Spooky in Love’s Manhwa Remake Is Finally Out On Webtoon

Ahead of its premiere on July 18, tvN announced a webtoon adaptation of Spooky in Love that was released on Naver Webtoon from July 17. The webtoon adaptation is based on the K-drama’s original script by Choi Jung-mi, adapted by kkyoung, and illustrated by kimu, and has released 8 chapters so far on Naver Webtoon. And, at long last, the series made its way to Webtoon with its official English release on August 1, 2026.

Seven chapters of Spooky in Love’s new remake are currently out on Webtoon, with new chapters to come every Saturday, and the series is certainly worth tuning into for any fan of the drama. The webtoon follows the K-drama’s story quite closely for the most part, with very few deviations. That said, it does set up certain mysteries, such as that of the ghost of Kang Ji-hwan, a little earlier while also explaining a bit more than the K-drama does.

All that said, perhaps the biggest reason to tune into Spooky in Love’s new webtoon is its gorgeous artwork by kimu, which takes Prosecutor Ma Gang-uk and turns him into the biggest webtoon heartthrob. And as for the spookier aspects, Spooky in Love’s webtoon also has that nailed perfectly so far, and it might even be able to dial up the horror more than the drama going forward.

K-Dramas And Webtoons Continue To Be A Match Made In Heaven

It’s no secret that over the years, countless K-dramas have been inspired by webtoons, and typically, it’s webtoons that are adapted into K-dramas after gathering enough steam. This formula has proved incredibly successful for years and across various titles and genres, whether that’s A Business Proposal, Lovely Runner, True Beauty, Bloodhounds, The Uncanny Counter, or All of Us Are Dead, to name only a few.

That said, over the last few years, a new trend has emerged of adapting K-dramas into webtoons after the fact, with Spooky in Love simply being the latest addition to this ever-growing list. Some of these K-dramas adapted into webtoons include Bon Appetit Your Majesty, King the Land, Healer, Our Beloved Summer, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Every single one of these webtoon expansions has been met with a positive reception, and it only goes to show that webtoons and K-dramas are truly a match made in heaven. Instead of a simple pipeline, these transmedia adaptations are bringing webtoons and K-dramas full circle, which is a sign that both mediums are only going to grow bigger and more mainstream from here on out, especially with Netflix leading the K-drama charge.
