Game Of Thrones: The Cold & The Dark Releases August 18

After the finale for Season 3‘s House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones enthusiasts will have plenty to debate over the coming months, with several controversial moments that divided fans right down the middle. No matter your thoughts on how House of the Dragon‘s latest season ended, there’s still a lot to look forward to as we wait to see how HBO handles the final season later down the road.

For starters, Game of Thrones: The Mad King has finally debuted at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, with an official run through September 5, 2026. After that, the highly anticipated second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will arrive sometime in 2027, with the exciting Aegon’s Conquest film currently in development as well, though no specific release date is available just yet for that.

However, Game of Thrones fans will want to mark their calendars for another new release titled The Cold & the Dark, which officially arrives on Tuesday, August 18 (via GoTC).

Game of Thrones: Conquest is digging into its gear archives this August with a month-long series of Crafting Flashbacks, giving players another chance to build equipment from older seasons. The Cold & the Dark, which runs from August 18 to 20, focuses specifically on giving players a chance to craft Season 13 gear in case they missed it back in 2022.

Throughout August, crafting eligible seasonal gear will earn players unique event points, while materials for select sets can be collected by defeating creatures during Special Events or exchanging Flux through Inventory Recipes. The wider flashback schedule progresses through the game’s previous seasons, beginning with Seasons 1 through 4 in The War of the Five Kings, followed by Seasons 5 to 8 in The Red Wedding and Seasons 9 to 12 in Battle of the Bastards before reaching Season 13 with The Cold and the Dark.

Season 13 is therefore well behind the game’s current gear cycle, making this event primarily a catch-up opportunity for strengthening older Armories, increasing March Size and filling gaps in troop-specific bonuses.

As Conquest has been running strong since back in 2017, there are older strategy guides that provide decent pointers on how to take advantage of monthly events and when to spend your accrued resources wisely.
