Major actors from two different Game of Thrones shows have been cast in a 2027 movie.
Led by Sean Bean as Ned Stark, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, and Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, the original Game of Thrones cast continued to expand over the course of its eight-season run. Six years after the divisive series finale, the spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms debuted, centered on the adventures of Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall (Peter Claffey) and Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell). Dunk and Egg’s story will continue in season 2, which is slated for a 2027 release.
Per Deadline, Ansell has now joined Universal’s 2027 holiday comedy movie Naughty, in which Dinklage and Jennifer Aniston had already been cast. Widow’s Bay breakout star and Emmy Award winner Kate O’Flynn has also been added to the cast, as has BAFTA winner Jamie Demetriou.
In the upcoming film, Dinklage plays Santa Claus, who must be found by Mallory (Aniston) in order to have him testify in her divorce hearing, and so she can get custody of her son from her gaslighting husband. No character details have been revealed yet about who Ansell, O’Flynn, or Demetriou are playing. They join a cast that also features Samara Weaving, Chase Sui Wonders, Ike Barinholtz, Regina Hall, Kate Berlant, and John Early.
Naughty is directed by Olivia Wilde, who most recently directed and starred in A24’s The Invite, which received an impressive “Certified Fresh” 96% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a “Verified Hot” 89% audience score. The script of the holiday comedy film is penned by Jimmy Warden, who previously wrote Cocaine Bear, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Borderline, the last of which he also directed.
While Ansell and Dinklage’s Game of Thrones universe characters exist in very different parts of the fantasy timeline, this is not the first time that the two actors have been in the same movie. Before A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Ansell played a young Coriolanus Snow in the opening flashback of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Meanwhile, Dinklage played Dean Casca Highbottom, who held a grudge against the 18-year-old Snow (Tom Blyth).
Despite both being in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Ansell and Dinklage did not share any scenes. Naughty may mark the first time that the two actors have a scene together, which will be sure to capture the attention of Game of Thrones and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans despite this movie being a very different genre.
Naughty will be released in theaters on November 5, 2027. It will be competing against Netflix’s Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, which is getting a wide theatrical release beginning on the same day before coming to the streaming platform on December 22. The animated feature film has Taika Waititi voicing Willy Wonka, who returns to his factory after being imprisoned for turning a child into a blueberry. Upon his return, he faces off against teenager Charlie Paley (Kit Connor), who, along with his friends, has an ambitious scheme afoot.
