Everywhere you go, you are confronted with Dungeon Crawler Carl, but with the sci-fi LitRPG series being a lesson in success, we can only be happy for its author, Matt Dinniman. Beginning the series as a self-published project after finding success as a web-novel, the Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise now boasts eight published novels, with a ninth, and final, installment on the way.
There is no doubt that the final novel will be as successful as the rest, but in the meantime, the franchise is going from strength to strength. Back in June of this year, Peacock announced that it would be adapting Dungeon Crawler Carl into a live-action television show. When it will air remains to be seen, but it is exciting news nonetheless.
On top of that, a TTRPG experience inspired by the World Dungeon itself is set to release later this month, allowing players to take on the role of Carl or Princess Donut in a card-crafting extravaganza, complete with accompanying expansions, dice and miniature sets.
However, that is not all, as over on Matt Dinniman’s official website, another exciting announcement has captured the attention of fans, especially as it aims to replace Carl with a familiar face.
Courtesy of a collaboration with Maeve Chocolate, fans of the Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise can now play a flash game inspired by none other than Princess Donut herself. As Carl’s ex-girlfriend’s cat, she plays an important role as sidekick, but now, she is taking center stage.
However, this flash game will also feature recorded audio from Jeff Hays of SoundBooth Theater. So, what is this all in aid of, you may ask? Well, this Dungeon Crawler Carl-inspired flash game has been created to celebrate the new Virgin Dirty Shirley bar from Maeve Chocolate. As the official website post reads,
“Maeve Chocolate built you a game. With lasers. Princess Donut has laser eyes, and you have 30 seconds to use them responsibly. Shoot as many cherries as possible and see how high you can push your score before time runs out!
NEW ACHIEVEMENT! Rabid Fan! You guys are some crazy fans. The amount of feet pictures we’ve received is…..concerning. We’re starting to think this may be a cult….and we want in!
With encouragement to “Play it. Share your score with other crawlers. Or lie about your score. That’s also allowed,” it is safe to say that this easy-to-play game will be the perfect way for Dungeon Crawler Carl fans to pass the time whilst they wait for the upcoming TTRPG and live-action television show, and with Princess Donut at the helm, what more could you ask for?
Featuring adorable graphics, players are expected to simply shoot the cherries with Princess Donut’s lasers, and this is all complete with some excellent “pews” from the feline herself. It is simple, yet highly effective, and the color scheme definitely makes you want to try some of the chocolate it is inspired by. Best yet, it is completely free to play on your browser for the Dungeon Crawler Carl fans out there.
