Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson Have “Thought A Lot” About Making Film Together

Six years after her last role, Goldie Hawn is considering another return to acting and another onscreen family reunion.

The Oscar winner recently noted that daughter Kate Hudson has brought up the idea of writing a script for the two of them to star in together, admitting it would be “lots of fun” to make a full family movie with partner Kurt Russell and sons Oliver Hudson and Wyatt Russell.

“I would love that,” she told People of Kate’s offer. “And the two of us have thought a lot about it.”

Hawn added, “We’re never going to do it, but it’s such a great idea because we have so much talent. Never say never, because that could happen at any time.”

While she’s yet to appear onscreen with her daughter, Hawn met Russell on the set of the 1968 Disney musical western The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, 15 years before their relationship began. The couple later appeared together in Swing Shift (1984), Overboard (1987), The Christmas Chronicles (2018) and The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020), with son Oliver appearing in the latter two.

“It’s about the content. It has to do with the content. Acting for acting’s sake, taking things… I’ve read a lot of shows, a lot of scripts that I didn’t like or I didn’t think I’d fit,” she explained of the projects she seeks. “The one thing about acting is that I’ve done it, and I had a great career, and I honor that.”

Hawn added, “I would love to get a material that could actually be like, ‘Oh my God, I want this so bad. This is so funny. She’s so crazy. She’s so interesting.’ But I haven’t come across it.

“If somebody came up with a really cool, funny script . . . I think it would be great,” she said.

Making her onscreen debut in the 1967-’68 CBS sitcom Good Morning World, Hawn has since become known for her performance on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, as well as films like Cactus Flower (1969), Shampoo (1975), Private Benjamin (1980), Death Becomes Her (1992), The First Wives Club (1996) and The Banger Sisters (2002).
