With the Pokémon franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, celebrations are in full swing, and it seems as though LEGO wants in on the action by releasing a series of kits dedicated to some of our favorite Pokémon.
Earlier this year, LEGO and The Pokémon Company teamed up to release a series of kits to celebrate Pokémon Day, including stunning figures of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. However, with the kits costing a whopping $650, they were not accessible to everyone and, as you can expect, scalpers soon took advantage of this by purchasing them in bulk and selling them on at even more ridiculous prices.
Overall, it was not a good look for anybody involved, but it seems as though the next kit is designed to right the mistakes by taking us back to Hoenn with the release of a beloved ‘mon.
Starting from 1 August 2026, LEGO is returning with another set of Pokémon-inspired kits, with one of the most notable being Rayquaza, alongside a Zinnia minifigure. Luckily, this Rayquaza figure will not feature LEGO’s brand-new Smart Bricks, so fans of the more traditional style of building can look forward to this latest addition to their collection.
Recently shared on the Funko POP! News Twitter/X account, the Rayquaza kit looks pretty impressive with the box stating that it will include 1083 pieces. The kit depicts Rayquaza perched upon the Sky Pillar with clouds emphasizing just how high up our Hoenn hero is. Zinnia can also be seen below, featuring her iconic outfit and hairstyle. Although the figure does not depict Rayquaza in their Mega Evolution form, it is still an impressive kit. As such, fans took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“Please don’t be more than $80,” one comment read. At the time of writing, there is no official price tag for the Rayquaza LEGO kit, but with some of the previous Pokémon sets being well into the hundreds of dollars, we really need to keep our fingers crossed.
“The minifigure is kinda a**, but overall, better than the Smart Bricks slops,” another user commented. With fans torn between wanting LEGO to take their money, whilst others admit that Rayquaza doesn’t look like himself, it seems as though this latest addition is dividing fans once more.
However, with LEGO set to release a myriad of Pokémon kits for Summer 2026, including Gengar and Cubone, another Charizard (and Jolteon) set, Garchomp with Umbreon, Mew, Bidoof, and more, there is guaranteed to be at least one you wish to add to your collection and luckily, you do not have long until you can get your hands on them.
