It’s Official, The Elder Scrolls: Shadows Of Oblivion Launches November 2026

[

After the recent restructuring and unfortunate rounds of layoffs at XBOX, fears about Bethesda’s progress on The Elder Scrolls 6 have kicked into overdrive lately. Gamers have already been waiting nearly a decade since TES6 was first announced back in 2018, and reports of veteran developers working on the project being let go have sparked a renewed panic among The Elder Scrolls fans.

That said, the timeline for The Elder Scrolls 6 remains largely unchanged. While the layoffs have undoubtedly fueled concerns about morale and development speed, there has been no official indication from Bethesda or XBOX that the project has slipped beyond its previously expected release window. Most industry analysts and insiders continue to believe the RPG is targeting a launch sometime in the next 2 to 3 years, with Bethesda reportedly still treating it as one of XBOX’s highest-priority first-party releases.

Either way, if you’re looking for something to keep your mind off The Elder Scrolls 6 for the time being, Shadows of Oblivion is officially expected to arrive in November 2026 (via Gamefound).

The Elder Scrolls: Shadows of Oblivion is one of five brand-new expansions in the Heroes of Tamriel pack, which are part of the critically acclaimed tabletop RPG The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era. While fulfillment of the expansion has been somewhat up in the air in recent months, a recent update has confirmed that everything is on track to ship as originally planned.

Chip Theory Games currently estimates fulfillment for the new Heroes of Tamriel campaign in November 2026, with Shadows of Oblivion expected to ship alongside the campaign’s other new expansions. Each expansion runs between $25 to $45 USD, and players can choose from one or all of the following five options:

  1. Heroes of Tamriel: Adds alternate versions of every playable race with new artwork and racial abilities, new classes, new skill lines, additional companions, and more character-building options.
  2. Summerset: Introduces the Summerset Isles as a fully playable new region with its own quests, enemies, encounters, loot, and campaign content.
  3. Elsweyr: Opens the province of Elsweyr with a new regional campaign, unique monsters, bosses, gear, and exploration opportunities.
  4. Fur & Fang: Focuses on lycanthropy and vampirism, adding Werewolf and Vampire gameplay mechanics, new transformations, and related content.
  5. Shadows of Oblivion (Volume 1): Introduces Daedric Prince encounters, blessings and curses, and alternate gameplay modifiers featuring Hermaeus Mora, Sheogorath, Mehrunes Dagon, Azura, Sanguine, and the stretch-goal addition of Peryite.

It’s worth noting that Shadows of Oblivion is designed as Volume 1, introducing five Daedric Princes rather than adding a new province, and it lets players bargain with Daedric Princes through blessings and curses that significantly alter the game’s difficulty and strategy.

While The Elder Scrolls 6 remains years away, Chip Theory Games’ growing lineup of expansions offers fans plenty of reasons to keep returning to Tamriel in the meantime, and there’s more than enough content here with the Heroes of Tamriel and Shadows of Oblivion expansions to help make the wait for Bethesda’s long-awaited RPG a little easier.
