- Iron Lung is coming to streaming after a successful theatrical run
- Fans will be able to stream the movie exclusively on YouTube Movies
- The movie will be a YouTube exclusive, with director Markiplier saying he is “pretty loyal” to the platform
Markiplier’s adaptation of Iron Lung was a huge success, with a box office taking of $51.2 million against a $3 million budget. If you missed its limited theatrical release, or simply want to watch it again, then you’re in luck.
In an update video titled “Where the hell is Iron Lung…?”, Markiplier acknowledged it has been four months since he self-released the movie, but said fans would be able to watch it on YouTube from May 31.
Staying true to his roots, the movie is not coming to any of the main streaming services, and instead will be available to rent or buy on YouTube Movies.
Take a look at the update below.
What is Iron Lung about?
Iron Lung was adapted from an independent horror game by David Szymanski, a game that Markiplier played on his channel and really enjoyed. It marks his directorial debut, with Szymanski starring in a cameo role.
The premise is a simple one and is set in one claustrophobic location. A convict named Simon is sealed inside a submarine where he explores an ocean of blood, which is believed to hold vital resources required to sustain human life after a catastrophic event called The Quiet Rapture. If he succeeds in his mission, he’ll be granted his freedom.
Sounds simple enough, right? Unfortunately this ocean and the vessel Simon is piloting are far scarier than he could have imagined, making for a tense watch.
Although we mostly follow Markiplier as Simon, there is a great supporting cast including Troy Baker, Elle LaMont, fellow YouTuber jacksepticeye, and Rahul Kohli.
