Total expenses increased 23.8% YoY to Rs 4,382.27 crore from Rs 3,540.44 crore in the year-ago quarter.
On a sequential basis, the company’s net loss remained broadly flat at Rs 132.45 crore, compared with Rs 132.84 crore in the June quarter. Revenue from operations rose 11.3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to Rs 4,131.58 crore from Rs 3,712.81 crore.

First-time buyers grew 16% sequentially, while annual transacting sellers increased 60% YoY to 1.13 million.

Sale timing shifts festive demand into Q3
Meesho said its Mega Blockbuster Sale (MBS), which took place in Q2 last year, has shifted to Q3 this fiscal year. The change in timing is expected to make the September-quarter growth appear softer than the underlying trend, with the December quarter likely to show a stronger year-on-year comparison.
The company said the two quarters should be assessed together to better understand its performance during the festive season.
India’s shopping patterns follow the festival calendar rather than fiscal quarters, with demand building through Navratri and peaking around Dussehra and Diwali. This year, Dussehra fell about 19 days later than last year, shifting part of the festive demand build-up from Q2 to Q3.
On a festive-aligned basis, comparing the 90 days preceding Dussehra in both years, NMV grew 33% YoY.
NMV also increased around 11% sequentially in Q2, despite the absence of the Mega Blockbuster Sale, indicating continued demand momentum, the company said.
Meesho added that NMV grew faster than placed orders partly because temporary inefficiencies arising from consolidation in the third-party logistics industry had affected deliveries in the year-ago quarter. Those inefficiencies did not recur this year, allowing a larger proportion of customer orders to be delivered.
The company also pointed to rising purchase frequency alongside growth in new users as an indicator of improving customer engagement. LTM frequency rose 7% to 10.4 even as first-time buyers increased 16% QoQ.
Contribution margin improves to 6%
Meesho’s contribution margin increased to 6% of NMV in Q2FY27 from 4.6% in the previous quarter.
The company said it plans to reinvest part of these efficiency gains into improving the experience for users and sellers, adding that the contribution margin could moderate in the near term as a result.
LTM free cash flow stood at negative Rs 565 crore, while LTM free cash flow to equity was negative Rs 163 crore. Quarterly free cash flow was Rs 345 crore, supported by seasonal working-capital movements.
The company reported a cash balance of Rs 7,048 crore.
As indicated in the previous quarter, Meesho increased growth spending to bring more users onto its platform. The company expects spending to remain elevated during the festive sale period and the weeks around Diwali.
Meesho Mall expands branded offerings
Meesho Mall hosted around 1,800 brands during Q2FY27, with NMV growing 81% YoY. In Tier 3 and smaller cities, NMV on the platform increased 89%. About half of the customers who purchased through Meesho Mall during the quarter were first-time buyers on the platform.
The company said its commission-free model enables brands to reach customers without paying commissions, while allowing shoppers to access genuine branded products at affordable prices.
The product mix on Meesho Mall is also evolving. Initially, branded purchases were largely concentrated in essential products such as soap, shampoo, detergent and diapers. These purchases helped establish customer trust, the company said.
Customers are increasingly moving towards discretionary categories, including face serums, sunscreens, conditioners and face rollers, indicating a broader range of consumption in smaller towns.
Meesho said its scale allows it to identify emerging consumption trends, regional preferences and changes in shopping habits across smaller markets. It shares these insights with brands to help them understand customers and plan their expansion across the country.
Content commerce NMV grows 160%
Meesho’s content-commerce NMV increased 160% YoY in Q2FY27, while the number of content pieces generating orders rose 144% to 2.2 million.
The company said content is increasingly becoming a part of the purchase decision, with customers discovering products through creators they relate to and buying after watching them demonstrate or use the products.
More than 400,000 sellers are now part of the content-commerce ecosystem. The model enables sellers to reach new customers, helps creators earn from their content and gives shoppers another way to discover products.
Meesho said creators earn when their content results in a purchase, aligning incentives across customers, sellers and creators.
Sudhir Sitapati appointed independent director
Separately, Meesho’s board approved the appointment of Sudhir Ganesh Sitapati as an additional director in the capacity of non-executive independent director for a five-year term, from October 28, 2026, to October 27, 2031, subject to shareholder approval.
The appointment followed the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee at its meeting on October 16, 2026.
Sitapati has confirmed that he meets the independence criteria under the Companies Act, 2013, and SEBI’s listing regulations. He has also confirmed that he has not been debarred from holding office as a director by the Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other authority and is not related to any of the company’s directors.
Outlook
Meesho said it remains watchful of the macroeconomic environment, citing the prolonged geopolitical conflict, rising raw-material and fuel prices, and continued pressure on household budgets.
However, the company said customers turned out in strong numbers during the festive season and spent on products beyond basic necessities, giving it confidence in the direction of consumer demand in India.
For Q3FY27, growth spending is expected to remain elevated through the Mega Blockbuster Sale and the weeks around Diwali, in line with the company’s usual festive-quarter pattern. Technology costs are also expected to remain higher until ongoing optimisation initiatives take effect.
Meesho cautioned that year-on-year growth in Q3 would appear stronger than the underlying trend because of the shift in the timing of the Mega Blockbuster Sale. The company said it would provide a combined view of Q2 and Q3 performance alongside its December-quarter results.
It added that it would continue strengthening its operating model by reinvesting efficiency gains while gradually improving free cash flow generation.
Ahead of the results, Meesho shares ended Wednesday’s trading session on the NSE at Rs 227.84 apiece, up nearly 1.9% from the previous close of Rs 223.58.
