Microsoft forced to turn to AWS to boost GitHub cloud capacity following AI demand surge

Microsoft has reportedly turned to its biggest rival and the biggest hyperscaler by market share, Amazon Web Services, to pick up the cloud services strain as demand for GitHub services surge.

Business Insider reports that, while the company had previously set a target of 2027 to have GitHub running almost entirely on Azure, recent demand and insufficient capacity has caused it to source compute from elsewhere.
