The momentous release of Berserk’s latest chapter was nine months in the making, with chapter #384 certainly sparing no obvious rebirth parallels with Guts’ latest development. Resting inside the stupa under the watch of his surprising new Kushan allies, Guts now faces virtually all the demons he suppressed since birth, hopefully in the name of a true breakthrough. But what’s perhaps more exciting for readers, and clearly at Studio Gaga, is the promise of the most consecutive chapter releases for Berserk since its return after Miura’s passing.
Berserk chapter #384 is part of three consecutive releases, with chapter #385 next up on June 26, and chapter #386 on July 10, 2026. While three consecutive chapters might feel almost too normal to be noteworthy for other manga, even with patterns like Eiichiro Oda’s in consideration, it’s only ever been reached once under Kouji Mori’s watch since taking the series. With one of the most significant narrative hurdles showing signs of being cleared with this latest batch, Berserk’s progression certainly heralds a more optimistic time for fans worldwide.
Berserk’s Manga Return Breaks A 4-Year Streak For The Series
Since the releases of Berserk chapters #365 through #367 in 2022, Berserk has not released three consecutive chapters once, with fans often settling for one month between releases at the very best in most cases. Fittingly, this batch also followed a nine-month period, albeit for more tragic reasons as they were the first under Mori’s supervision, with chapter #364 being the last one primarily illustrated by Miura and releasing on September 10, 2021. Whether the manga’s continuation following July 10’s promised chapter continues the pace is anybody’s guess, but given Miura himself obsessed over Guts’ big moment in the latest chapter, it’s clear that real progress was made and felt by Studio Gaga.
“Berserk latest chapter, updated today!! Plus, consecutive updates on 6/26 and 7/10.”

But the story is far from over. Griffith has Casca in his clutches over in Falconia, while Guts has yet to emerge from the stupa. Having shown a persistently despondent state for years’ worth of chapter releases, fans endured an agonizing sight of Guts at his lowest of abyssal lows, whether aboard the Seahorse, or being utterly unresponsive to the threat of Rakshas in recent chapters. Far too many threats still exist, and with the latest revelations about Guts’ unique Astral connections, it’s increasingly clear how he’s been able to fight back all this time. With Berserk coming back more aggressively than ever under Mori’s watch, now’s the time to look forward with optimism for the chapters ahead.
The Latest Berserk Chapter Was The Object Of Its Creator’s 20-Year Obsession
Clearly, an emotional breakthrough for Guts is more than the run-of-the-mill Gift of the Goddess. The suffering of this character was both defined early on in flashbacks of his youth under Gambino’s horrific abuse, and even the moment of his birth was a grim overture for a lifetime of suffering, born from the hanging corpse of his deceased mother. The fact that he was able to let others through his emotional armor was a miracle; unfortunately, these same companions, the Band of the Hawk, would be horrifically massacred during the Eclipse, along with his lover, Casca, violated and emotionally broken by his former friend and leader, Griffith.
Guts’ trauma didn’t end there, either. Through the Black Swordsman and Conviction Arcs, Guts is forced to relive his worst memories, even seeing a broken version of himself in Theresia. With a bestial manifestation of his animus in the Beast of Darkness, Guts was dangerously close to a point of no return, his dark pragmatism was confronted by the brutal reality that, if he stayed down this path, he’d be a danger to himself, and more importantly, to Casca. By assembling the Black Swordsman party, Guts built multiple emotional pillars for himself and to give Casca the care she needed. But Guts never stopped needing to confront his darkest trauma, and Miura knew this.
While the original creator knew this development had to happen, he clearly spent a good time agonizing over this pivotal Berserk moment. After all, for readers around the world, the assumption was, for the longest time, that Guts could very well never reach his catharsis, either because the manga were to end with its creator’s passing, or any number of dark alternatives in the story. Guts had to suffer, feel utterly powerless and unable to stop Griffith from taking Casca away, and fall into his pit of despair aboard the Seahorse, all before his chance for redemption could be found in the stupa. And this all assumes he fully confronts his trauma in the chapters ahead.
Whatever the case, Mori and Studio Gaga nailed the assignment so well they couldn’t help but post about their success in conveying Miura’s vision. It’s a proud moment for the new creative team, especially since Guts’ dreamlike sequence features some of the most ethereal, gorgeous visuals since Schierke and Farnese did the same for Casca by braving her fractured dreamscape. At the end of the day, Guts’ path ahead was lovingly planned by Miura much like previously with Casca.
Guts Struggles On In Berserk Thanks To Its Studio’s Labor Of Love
Miura and Mori’s friendship was given an achingly emotional tribute in the wake of Miura’s passing with a special manga devoted to his memory. It’s one of the most emotional, personal, and real expressions of friendship ever put to the page in the medium, and in it, Miura is quoted making it clear that he and Mori shared one mind in their creative process. He went even further, succinctly suggesting, “We are one.” Despite Mori’s humility, this notion would make it clear that carrying on Berserk following the loss of Miura with anybody but Mori, would have been a mistake.
“Berserk will be featured in Young Animal, which goes on sale tomorrow. I’m truly, deeply sorry for keeping you waiting so long. This chapter is an episode that Miura agonized over for twenty years, and even I, who heard it from him dozens of times, found it incredibly challenging…
We somehow managed to reach the finish line after going over the dialogue countless times with Shimada-san, who was our editor at the time and has been a long-time mentor to both Miura and me. Once again, everyone at Studio Gaga, starting with Kurosaki-kun, did absolutely outstanding work!! I’d be thrilled if you enjoy it.”
-Koji Mori on X ahead of Berserk chapter #384’s release
Despite the edgy associations with this franchise creating a predictable boys’ club mentality for many of its fans, Berserk’s biggest moments, and the series itself, are built upon friendship. It saved the manga from disappearing without a definitive conclusion because Miura trusted Mori with his vision, and now, the series continues to flourish, even if it occasionally has to take its time. Berserk is a labor of love for its creators, and despite Miura’s passing, Mori carries the vision, having been connected to it the whole time. That should spark plenty of hope for those excited to see what chapters #385, #386, and beyond have in store.
