New York Knicks Defend Taylor Swift After Tyler Kolek Calls Her Fakest Fan

The New York Knicks are pledging allegiance to Taylor Swift.

Shortly after the NBA team’s point guard Tyler Kolek declared the Grammy winner as one of their fakest fans, the Knicks went on the defensive for the “Love Story” singer. 

“Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden,” a spokesperson for the team said in a Nov. 6 statement to E! News, “and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization.”

Kolek and his fellow point guard Miles James “Deuce” McBride found themselves in some trouble during an interview with NBA 2K League, when they were faced with the question: “Who’s the fakest celebrity fan you’ve seen sitting courtside in an NBA game?” And Kolek did his part to keep it 100 on the land, the sea, the sky—by calling out his perceived fair-weather fans. 

“At the Knicks games, I would say it’s very performative,” Kolek mused in a video posted to YouTube Nov. 5, “like they just want to be seen at the game, they’re not necessarily fans.”
