Today at CinemaCon, where Collider’s Britta DeVore is reporting from the floor, Paramount just confirmed a major shift for the Star Trek franchise just weeks after cancelling one of the show’s newest and most exciting series. While their comments were brief, the studio confirmed that a new Star Trek movie is officially in development. While a fourth Star Trek film in the Chris Pine-led Kelvin-verse has been rumored for nearly a decade, it sounds like Paramount is taking the franchise in a new direction entirely.
