Richard Gadd To Be Honored At Italian Global Series

EXCLUSIVE: Richard Gadd will be honored with the Maximo Breakthrough Storyteller Award at the Italian Global Series event in Rimini.

Gadd is the actor-writer-producer behind Netflix smash-hit drama Baby Reindeer and more recently, the visceral BBC and HBO Max show Half Man. He will collect his award at the closing ceremony of Italian Global Series, which takes place at the Teatro Galli in Rimini on July 11.

Three-time Emmy winner Gadd will also take part in an in-conversation session at the event, which will be followed by a screening of the first episode of Half Man.

Announcing the award, screening and session, the organizers of Italian Global Series lauded Gadd for being “widely regarded as one of the boldest and most original voices in contemporary television storytelling.”

Gadd will soon be seen in the A24-produced Apple TV+ comedy-drama series The Husbands, alongside Juno Temple and an ensemble cast.

Italian Global Series is held in Rimini and Riccione and is entering its second year. Confirmed guests include Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright, Doctor Foster actor Bertie Carvel, German-Turkish actor Serkan Çayoğlu, and Bates Motel creator Carlton Cuse.

This year’s Drama section opens with the debut screening of Benidorm Is Murder, a UK/Spanish production directed by Simon Delaney and starring John Hannah; and the medical series Emergency 53 from Brazil. Other International Premieres include Secret Service, a political spy thriller directed by James Marsh and starring Gemma Arterton; and the Korean thriller Speaking Dead.

The second edition of the event runs July 3–11.
