The Odyssey has sailed past yet another huge milestone.

2026’s The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem of the same name that was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie, which features a massive, star-studded cast that includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson, has proven to be a massive box office sensation. In addition to earning the fourth-biggest opening weekend of 2026 so far, it rocketed past the $1 billion milestone worldwide, giving 2026 the most billion-dollar hits of the decade so far (alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Toy Story 5, Michael, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie).

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, The Odyssey is projected to earn a 3-day total of $23 million by the end of its fifth weekend in theaters, bringing its cumulative domestic gross to $504.4 million. This sees it closing out the first full month of its run by becoming the 24th movie in history to ever hit the half-billion domestic milestone. Only one previous Christopher Nolan movie has done so, namely 2008’s The Dark Knight ($535 million domestic).

Worldwide, The Odyssey has already become the highest-grossing Christopher Nolan movie ever, not adjusted for inflation. While it remains to be seen if it can climb any higher up the all-time domestic chart, it has an astoundingly slim projected week-on-week drop of just 27% this weekend. If it is able to accomplish similar audience retention through the end of August, it should be able to add at least $28 million more within just two additional weekends.

This would bring its cumulative domestic gross to $532.4 million, allowing it to surge past 2017’s Beauty and the Beast and 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker and become the 22nd highest-grossing domestic movie of all time. Below, see a breakdown of every movie that stands between The Odyssey and a place in the all-time domestic Top 20:
