Dylan Carter‘s loved ones are mourning a tremendous loss.

Nearly three years after the aspiring singer competed on season 24 of The Voice, he died April 25 in Colleton County, S.C, his nonprofit The Local Voice confirmed. He was 24.

“With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community,” the organization—which raises funds for women battling cancer—shared on Facebook April 26. “Dylan was the heart of what we do.”

“He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen,” the message continued. “We are so grateful for Dylan, for the love he gave this community, and for the impact he leaves behind.”

Colleton County law enforcement officials—who did not identify the victim—told TMZ that a person was killed in a single-car accident on the Lowcountry Highway.

E! News has reached out to authorities for further details and has not heard back.
