Director Ryan Cooglerrecently unveiled David Jonsson as the actor taking on the mantle of Black Panther from the late Chadwick Boseman. Coogler has previously spoken about the ambitious father-son story that he had mapped out for Boseman in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but the actor’s passing forced a revamp of the project. The movie ends with the reveal of T’Challa’s young son. He will be introduced as the protagonist of the upcoming third film, played by Jonsson as an adult. Boseman passed away in 2020 after a private four-year battle with cancer. His last two movies were released on Netflix. His final theatrical movie is currently streaming in the United States on Netflix as well, but not for much longer.

But we’re talking about the crime thriller 21 Bridges. The movie didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, grossing $50 million against a reported budget of $33 million. It received mixed reviews, and is now sitting at a 55% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “21 Bridges covers its beat competently enough, but given its impressive cast, this cop thriller should be more arresting than it is.” However, the movie’s “Verified Hot” 91% audience score has helped attract audiences during its streaming era. 21 Bridges will remain on Netflix until August 31.
