Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Gets Official Release Date Update

[

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely seen as one of the best games in the series to date, which is why it was absolutely no surprise to hear that it was the target of the remake treatment from Nintendo. We have now seen a good amount of what we can expect from this latest version of the game, and it should be an exciting time for everyone.

That’s particularly true of longtime fans who were around to play the original version, though, as it should hit notes of nostalgia that very few other games would be able to achieve. Now, we know a little more about Nintendo’s plans for its big day of arrival, and they’ve confirmed something that should dial up that nostalgia even further.

Anyone who grew up playing video games in the 1990s and 2000s will know that the biggest video game releases were often subject to a midnight launch, where customers could queue at participating stores to buy and play the game before basically anyone else. It was a core memory of the time for many people, and a great way to meet like-minded folks who were interested in the same things as you.

The digital era has sadly seen most of those events become a thing of the past, but if they were to return for any game, the Ocarina of Time Remake feels like the perfect candidate. Happily, that’s exactly what has happened, as Nintendo confirmed two special midnight releases are going ahead, where people can show up in person and buy a copy of the game.

As first reported by GameRant, the events are set to go ahead on Wednesday, November 4 from 9 PM to 11 PM in San Francisco, and 12 AM to 2 AM in New York City, though you will be limited to one copy per person for obvious reasons. At the same time, to secure your spot, you will need to register for a Warp Pipe Pass.

The fun doesn’t stop there though, as there will be other items available for purchase other than the game. Those include the special edition accessories like the Zelda 40th Anniversary Pro Controller + Stand and Carrying Case, as well as the special edition Zelda Nintendo Switch 2. Given that the latter has been unavailable online for a while now, it could be the best way to get your hands on one for the foreseeable future.

Lastly, the company has also confirmed that there will be a mystery free gift for those who do queue up and secure a copy of the game for themselves. They haven’t explained exactly what this gift will be, but it’s nice to have an additional incentive to show up in person.

It doesn’t look like Nintendo are planning to run any official events outside of the continental United States, but it’s worth keeping an eye out to see if local game stores are running anything themselves. This latest version of Ocarina of Time seems to be the perfect opportunity to do so, so there is a solid chance something will be happening in your local area if you live in a major city.
