Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Official 2026 Release Date Has Fans Amazed

[

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time holds a special spot in many gamers’ hearts, so the reveal of its long-awaited remake set the fandom ablaze. After many leaks and rumors, the remake was finally officially announced during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, along with a stunning reveal trailer.

The original Ocarina of Time was released in 1998, and is considered a classic with a near-perfect rating of 99 on Metacritic. The adventure game’s highs and lows are so iconic (we’re looking at you, notorious Water Temple) that fans are understandably torn on whether a remake can truly capture the original feel of the game.

Some worry that the game would love some of its charm by turning it more stylistically generic, while others are concerned about the brief teaser changing a big detail—Link’s hand glows with the symbol of the Triforce, which isn’t supposed to happen until later in the game. But no matter what fans think of the remake itself, everyone agrees on one thing: the game’s release window.

The teaser trailer shown off during the Nintendo Direct doesn’t include a specific release date. It does, however, promise a 2026 release. The trailer is only a minute and 40 seconds long, most of which is a stylized tapestry-style presentation, and not actual gameplay footage. This means that we know virtually nothing about the upcoming remake.

As such, fans are really surprised that the game will really be arriving before the end of the year (which is already half over). In a discussion on Reddit, Zelda fans seem to agree that the release year reveal is surprising. Redditor tiford88 notes that “With how little they showed, I’m amazed it’s a 2026 release date.

Of course, more information about the upcoming game will be revealed in the coming months. In keeping with Nintendo tradition, there will almost certainly be a dedicated Ocarina of Time Direct in the next few months, most likely near the end of the summer.

Some fans believe that the teaser was pushed out before the company was ready because it had been leaked by the reputable Nate the Hate a month prior. Redditor surrendertomychill writes that the “Teaser trailer would’ve hit different if Nate hadn’t leaked this a month ago.

It’s hard to tell from just the teaser trailer how true to the original the remake will be. While Nitnendo could redo the entire game with only a few QoL changes, the company could also take Square Enix’s approach to the Final Fantasy 7 remake and take the game in a completely new direction while paying homage to the original.

Fans of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will have to wait until Nintendo is ready to reveal more information about the remake of the beloved game.
