Anna Faris Says Neve Campbell, JLH Were “So Lovely” After ‘Scary Movie’

More than 25 years later, Anna Faris is looking back at the reaction to her debut as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie (2000).

The actress, whose Scary Movie 6 return is now in theaters, recently recalled meeting Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt after spoofing their roles in the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer franchises, respectively.

“I met [Campbell] once at an audition, she was so lovely. And Jennifer Love Hewitt sent me flowers,” Faris told Films Actu. “It did feel like we made something so ridiculous, that it would look silly if you were pissed off.”

Shawn Wayans, who co-created and co-stars in the franchise with brother Marlon Wayans, agreed with Faris, noting that the movies are “done with kids gloves.”

While promoting her own return in Scream 7, Campbell recently told the outlet she’s “only watched 20 or 30 minutes” of Scary Movie, she’s flattered by the nod.

“But I know that people love them, and I think it’s that thing of, if people impersonate you, you must have done something right,” explained Campbell. “Even if they’re making fun of you, it’s because it was enjoyed at some point by somebody.”

Faris reprises her role as Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 6, which once again parodies both the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer franchises, as well as multiple other recent horror movies.
