Sydney Sweeneyis one of the most talked-about actors in the world right now. This year, she reprised one of her most famous roles in Euphoria‘s third season, which sparked huge controversy and backlash against creator Sam Levinson. But this isn’t the only big recent hit for Sweeney, as she starred alongside Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar in an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, The Housemaid. Released in late 2025 and running through the first couple of months of 2026, The Housemaid surprised many by earning $400 million worldwide against a production budget of just $35 million. This, of course, inspired Lionsgate to greenlight a sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, which is slated for a December 17, 2027, release.
Canadian actor Paul Anthony Kelly, Kirsten Dunst, and a returning Sweeney have each already been cast in the sequel, which will be directed by Paul Feig and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine. It has now been confirmed that The Hunting Wives favorite Brittany Snowis joining the cast, portraying “Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at the husband’s company.” The husband in question is one half of a wealthy couple who employ Sweeney’s Millie, before a sinister secret is revealed.

What Else Os Sydney Sweeney Working On?
As one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood today, Sweeney is rarely going to be out of work. Alongside the upcoming Housemaid’s Secret, she is also headlining a new Netflix adaptation inspired by the popular Japanese Gundam animated series written by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate. Expected to be released sometime next year, Gundam features a stacked central cast alongside Sweeney, including Jason Isaacs, Noah Centineo, Nonso Anozie, Shioli Kutsuna, and Michael Mando.
Jim Mickle is directing the film from a script he wrote, with Mando recently hyping up the film in a conversation with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff, saying, “They had us on wires. We were flying through space and zero gravity, and I can’t wait to see that film. I think it’s going to be really wonderful. Big shoutout to Jim Mickle.”
