DC Studios’ new release features the Teen Titans, with a twist, in a small moment, and it boosts excitement for their upcoming movie. DC has many noteworthy superhero teams in the comics. There is no denying that the Justice League is the biggest of them, with heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more being part of most iterations of the team.
Even though the DCEU movie franchise failed to excite with its version of the Justice League, the team continues to be DC’s most famous. That said, other superhero squads, like the Teen Titans, who have starred in multiple successful animated DC series, the Justice Society of America, the Birds of Prey, the Doom Patrol, and more, are also worthy of adaptations.
Most of those have had at least one appearance, with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn leading a live-action Birds of Prey movie in the DCEU, an irreverent Doom Patrol series existing in the same universe as the controversial Titans, and the JSA’s past and future being explored in Stargirl. That said, after the Justice League, the Teen Titans might be DC’s most popular team. As such, any appearances of the characters are to be celebrated.
In recent years, the live-action Titans and the animated Teen Titans Go! have faced a lot of criticism for very different reasons. That is why it was so exciting to see a nod to the superhero team in the latest episode of My Adventures with Superman season 3. The animated superhero series featured the Teen Titans, with a twist, in episode 2.
The Teen Titans’ Cameo Boosts Interest In The Heroes’ Formal Return
My Adventures with Superman was always connected to the Teen Titans in a way. Not only is the show’s vibrant tone an interesting fit for the Teen Titans, but the superhero team’s biggest villain, Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, is a recurring antagonist in the animated series. Slade is voiced by Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty/Archer). However, its biggest connection to the Teen Titans has come in My Adventures with Superman season 3, episode 2, “Mobile Suit Toyman,” with members of the DC team making a cameo, but not with the characters formally appearing. Instead, during a fan event, cosplayers wear Teen Titans costumes.
DC fans can see characters dress up as Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire as they pose for a photo with the animated series’ version of Bizarro, who is not a villain. The latest episode of My Adventures with Superman suggests that the Teen Titans exist in the show’s world, as normal citizens are cosplaying the characters, which is exciting and could eventually lead to their own spinoff series in this shared universe. Given how the Green Lantern Jessica Cruz also debuted in the same episode, and she will lead the My Adventures with Green Lantern spinoff, the Teen Titans’ cameo could be foreshadowing.
The DCU Teen Titans Movie Can Finally Do The Characters Justice
While we wait for an official announcement about the future of the Teen Titans in DC’s new animated shared universe, the characters have another franchise to worry about. After all, James Gunn officially confirmed that a Teen Titans movie is in the works for the new DC Universe. The DC Studios creative chief revealed in a DC press event in February 2025 that “Ana Nogueira has been writing a Teen Titans script for a little while.” Nogueira also penned Milly Alcock’s Supergirl movie, which debuts in theaters this week, on Friday, June 26.
DCU Teen Titans Movie Updates: Everything We Know
Now that the DCU is confirmed to be developing a live-action movie starring DC’s Teen Titans, here is everything we have learned about the project.
Additionally, Nogueira has also been tasked with writing the DCU Wonder Woman movie, showing how Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran have full confidence in her skills. Based on that, I could not be more excited about DC’s new Teen Titans movie. A vibrant, comics-accurate Teen Titans movie in the vein of Gunn’s Superman is exactly what the team needs to rebound from the overtly dark and controversial Titans, and My Adventures with Superman season 3’s cameo raises excitement for such a project.
